Last update solved a lot of issues

Post by daaronb »

I had a lot of issues, lt would crash (more like freeze ). I had to restart the backend to get hdhomerun to be seen. Going to 29.1 has cleared those and other issues.
Question: Having a HTPC, do you ever worry about noise affecting the hard drive?

Search google for "loud sound damage hard drive"

Hard drives are definitely susceptible to data errors caused by vibration. So having your HTPC case right next to a speaker, especially a subwoofer, is probably not a good idea if you use spinning disks.

Due to the heat and noise generated by their backend, many people put it in a closet or basement. They then use a low-power, fanless PC with FLASH-based storage for their frontend.
