Over the last 3 months I have been working on version 2.20 of the perl API based channel editor and am pleased to announce its release.
It is described here:
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Channel_Editor
The major code change is the ability to export and import data to a CSV file for manipulation with a spreadsheet such as Libre office. This will allow more sophisticated editing facilities than the built-in routines.
Those satellite users wishing to perform bulk changes to channel number may find this particularly valuable.
There are corresponding changes to both the wiki and to the tutorial file.
It has been subject to beta testing but I’d appreciate any further testing or wiki proofreading.

Re: Channel editor - new version.
Many tx Phil,..
One of the nice ( major changes) that will certainly assist UK users is the improved matching criteria which now uses serviceID, so chedit can more easily match and distinguish channels with the same name, but with a regional variance, in a UK SAT or Freeview environment.
And if performing a clean retune.... importing the csv file,.. brings back a previous chedit line-up... Truly time saving!!
Tx again Phil

Thanks diyhouse - not only for your positive comments here but also for your inspiration in suggesting the use of ServiceID in the first place and for your very valuable beta testing and feedback! Much appreciated.
