MythTV Usage
Hello, I am looking for some clarity on what MythTV actually does. If I have some USB TV Tuners with an Outdoor Antenna feed, does this program scan the channels received from the tuners then allow me to select what channel(s) I want to stream then take that channel stream and convert/transcode it to HLS m3u8/ts files for streaming? Thank you

Re: MythTV Usage
Hello, since that page doesn't specifically address my question, will it do as I described in my first post?
If so then I'll wonder over to the Windows forum to help me get this working in Windows. Thx

Something here should answer your question. Most of these will point to the wiki, which was a link in my original post.

Re: MythTV Usage
Myth is primarily for recording TV. It will use the tuners to scan for channels and then record selected shows to disk as ts files.
It needs some sort of TV schedule to do so. Reportedly US EIT isn't very good; most US users subscribe to Schedules Direct.
It's 'streaming' isn't comprehensive. The Myth frontend (& Kodi) play recorded shows and live TV over a local network via a private (TCP) protocol.
The backend can also transcode/stream via HLS. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming_Server
I believe the Myth web frontend & Android players use this. https://github.com/MythTV-Clients.
For other forms of streaming (RTP, DASH etc) some people feed the ts files of completed recordings to Plex/Vlc/whatever.
