wiki content questions
I'm probably going to have more than one question, so let's try a running thread. Hoping to cleanup/modernize the wiki a bit re: install/setup.
1) According to the wiki, you can set up audio and video under FE>Setup Wizard. I see no such thing. Must have existed at one time at least. Am I just missing something, is there some option I don't have set, or was this removed (and if so, knowing when would be nice)?
See: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Configuring ... figuration
TIA

Re: wiki content questions
I'm on V35 fixes, and frontend, setup, setup wizard is there.
Thanks for your extensive work on updating the wiki.

Re: wiki content questions
But can you configure audio/video, or are there just the three buttons about managing your profile? Thanks

2) Database Configuration 1/2, "Ping test server? "
Pretty sure I was told that this was no longer a gui option when I was trying to figure out why it was changing in my config.xml. So mostly I'm wondering if anyone knows when it was removed. [I thought I saw a changelog somewhere, besides searching the release notes for each release?]
3) Settings>General>Remote Control>Enable CEC Control Interface: Again, in the wiki, I don't see it. I know I've stumbled on this in the past, sounded really cool, never went anywhere for me (joys of running >15 year old hardware).

Ignore those and just hit next, will take you onto audio configuration, next will take you onto video configuration.white_haired_uncle wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 12:18 pmBut can you configure audio/video, or are there just the three buttons about managing your profile? Thanks

I couldn't (refused to?) see the "next" button.

4) The introduction to the Channel Editor makes it sound like a tedious process that is desperately needed because your initial configuration, say from a channel scan, is going to be all screwed up. To me, it sounds rather daunting, especially for a brand new user. I find the Channel Editor a touch confusing sometimes when lineup changes occur (something I hope to clarify), but besides lineup changes and occasionally blacklisting the home shoplifting channels, I've just never found it to be all that necessary, especially on an initial install.
IMO, the intro should be something like 'you might want to give this a quick look initially, then come back if something doesn't look right or changes later'. But then, someone wrote the thing the way they did for a reason. Comments?

5) When choosing a grabber, Schedules Direct users will want "Schedules Direct JSON API" or ''Multinational (Schedules Direct JSON webservices with SQLite DB)". I understand the basic difference for US users, but it's that "Multinational" thing, which seems to imply something...?

6) Runtime dependencies - where do they come from?
The newest listed are for v32, and they are out of date for ubuntu24
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Build_from_ ... pendencies
I've always built on the same machine I run on, so I don't remember the last time I needed anything that wasn't included during build time. I can test that, build on one machine and then install on a different machine with a fresh install and I guess run ldd against the binaries, but I'm not sure that's enough and I don't use a lot of stuff (e.g. firewire).
HMM, packaging/deb/mythtv/debian/control ??? or maybe just query the package???
apt depends looks a lot like that control file.
Simply trying to apt install mythtv only wants to install 427 new files, but I guess that's a start.

Re: wiki content questions
This works for me on v35 installed via the Mythbuntu PPA:According to the wiki, you can set up audio and video under FE>Setup Wizard. I see no such thing.
Frontend, Setup, Setup Wizard, up arrow to focus on Next button and hit enter
This starts the audio configuration.
