Resurrecting my mythtv

Post by matthewclatter »

Hello,
I set up MythTV back in 2005 with two cards: a Fusion HDTV and a Firewire card that had four ports. Unfortunately, my hard drive failed in 2007. Now, I’m considering cutting the cord and getting a fast internet package from Xfinity. I’m also searching for an external antenna to connect to my Fusion HDTV card for ATSC.

Since I'm planning to go with an internet-only package (no TV), can I configure my Roku to communicate with the MythTV backend?

I also recall being able to receive ATSC signals over Comcast's cable back in the day. Does that still work? :D

For the external antenna, I would go to https://www.avsforum.com/forums/local-h ... eption.45/ read the very first thread and then post on one of the local threads there for suggestions tailored to your area.

As far as ATSC over cable... No idea, but if you aren't already familiar with the difference (I'm not, I just know enough to say I don't know enough), you probably want to investigate (Clear)QAM vs ATSC so you can be sure your HW works with your provider (I'm also kind of confused why you ask since it sounds like you're dropping cable anyway).
