Future recordings marked as "Missed"

Post by bpmod » Thu Jul 13, 2017 6:02 pm

I am just about ready to completely give up on MythTV.

I have several recordings set up to go. The first should have started about a minute ago. But everything for the next six hours is shown as "Missed: This showing was not recorded because the backend was not running."

Why is the error in the past tense? The backend is running fine and the computer is otherwise completely free of errors. The clock (and timezone) is set correctly.

Any ideas?

I guess the bigger problem is how can you, once you discover that the recordings are marked as missed, convince MythTV to record them?

I tried going into the Upcoming Recordings menu and highlighting a recording marked such, then choosing "Restart this recording". Of course, that option is available only when the recording would actually be in progress if it hadn't been marked by MythTV as missed.

My results were as follows:
The first five I tried resulted in the cryptic "Recorder failed" error (which I have been trying to troubleshoot for the past five months as shown in another thread).
Finally, I had two successes, recordings 6 & 7.
When it came time for recording 8 to start, I did the same thing, and, (seemingly) miraculously, the rest of the recordings changed from "[red exclamation point] Missed", to "[blue dot] Will record". I thought it might result in actually getting those recordings, but, alas, they never started, and the option to "Restart recording" was no longer available.

All recordings which had been marked as missed (with the exception of the two that I successfully restarted) have indeed been missed, never to be rerun again. It's about 14 hours until the next scheduled recording and I have no way of knowing if it will be successful, and of course, will be away so I won't know until it is too late to do anything about it.
