Re: New Upnp Channel Changing Script

Video must be captured using a device like HD-PVR. There is no provision in the Dish hardware for it to be transmitted over the Ethernet cable used by uPnP. This program is just for telling the box what channel to tune to without having to use an IR blaster. You can't really do a direct "press any k...

Re: Unable to compile the latest fixes 0.27.5, please help.

Very often, link failures can be cleared-up with "make clean" or "make distclean". If you just do a "git pull" and "make" that leaves behind object files from the last time you compiled, and they might be trying to refer to code that either no longer exists or has changed since you last compiled.

Re: mythfilldatabase can't reach schedules direct

I, and others, have had similar problems with the DNS lookup failing. It seems to work on the second try within a few minutes. In my case, I set Myth to use a wrapper script instead of the "real" mythfilldatabase:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
ping -c 3 dd.schedulesdirect.org
/usr/local/bin/mythfilldatabase $*

Re: FetchChanelsFromSource, GetDDLineupList

I believe "DD Lineup" refers to the Data Direct service, which was a source of scheduling data in the US. You might change this to Schedules Direct where appropriate.

Re: Different themes for different users

Downloaded themes are stored in the individual's ~/.mythtv directory, so they are different for each user. You need to download another copy for the second user. But you should be aware that the setting for which theme to use is stored in the database, and is per host, not per user. So you can't rea...

Re: daily show recording repeatedly stops with no log (debug

This sounds like some sort of scheduled shutdown, outside of Myth. You might check to see if there is a message in your syslog, or elsewhere in /var/log (try `ls -lt` to see what log was most recently written to.) And please don't file a bug report until you have narrowed the problem down to Myth an...

Re: Myth_Filldatabase not connecting with SchedulesDirect

I think you're likely to be running into the same problem I've had: The first attempt fails, but attempts a little while later work. The suspicion is that this has something to do with the ISP's DNS caching, but I don't know if I agree. Anyway, there's a simple workaround involving creating a mfd wr...

Re: HDMI (w/ hdcp ) capture device

Based on the config pages, it seems to be using only 2-channel, matrixed audio. So the best you can get out of it is 5.1 compressed channels. This is a non-starter for me.

Re: SPDIF audio via hd pvr

I use SPDIF exclusively. The key is to use something like this: /usr/bin/v4l2-ctl --device /dev/video0 --set-ctrl=audio_encoding=4 It can be added to your machine's startup script (rc.local) or to your channel changer script, though it really only needs to happen once, and not for every recording. S...

Session timeout

In the past week or two, this forum has gone from having a really long session timeout (a couple of weeks, I think) to just a few hours. Now, pretty much every time I want to look for new messages I have to log in again. Is this really due to a configuration change in the forum, or is it just someth...

Re: Record on any channel *except* this one

Could you just hide the channel (go into mythtv-setup and uncheck the Visible box)? This would prevent anything from being scheduled on that channel. It would also remove the channel from the scheduler grid and searches, so this may not be what you want.

Re: mythlink.pl does not work with 0.27.2 on mythbuntu 14.04

One possibility: The config is read from ~/.mythtv/config.xml. If the user running the script is different form the user that normally runs the frontend/backend, it will be looking in a different location for this file. I'm not sure about mythlink.pl specifically, but it might have commandline optio...

I second the desire for Mark Forums Read on the View New Posts page. More importantly for me, I'd like to see it on the View Unread Posts page.

Ability to control the volume *before* playback starts

What I'd like is the ability to control the volume *before* playback has started, while still in the Watch Recordings/Videos menu. That way I don't have to worry about scaring the cats (or kids, in my case) during that first few seconds of playback while I frantically try to turn the volume down.

Re: Improve efficiency of tuner selection

I think the better idea would be if, as the data is coming in from the tuner, it gets appended to BOTH files at the same time: the earlier recording and the later one. That way, only one tuner would be needed and both recordings would be complete.
