Re: Builds

What is the current state of build scripts for version 29 on OS X? I found warpme's pre-compiled frontend, but I also need the backend. It doesn't look like macports includes 29 yet. I'm willing to compile it myself, but not to go through what I'm sure is dependency hell to get it to work. Has anybo...

Re: Watch TV not working

The best idea for diagnosing this sort of thing is the logs, primarily on the frontend, but potentially on the backend as well. The easiest way to start is to run the frontend from an xterm session with "-v playback" added to the commandline and see if anything useful appears there. If not, you may ...

Re: Last update solved a lot of issues

Hard drives are definitely susceptible to data errors caused by vibration. So having your HTPC case right next to a speaker, especially a subwoofer, is probably not a good idea if you use spinning disks. Due to the heat and noise generated by their backend, many people put it in a closet or basement...

Re: Multiple IPTV Encoders

Hi Charles, I have been working on a modified version of mythfilerecorder that takes the output of an arbitrary shell command and pipes that back into the backend, rather than reading a static file. It also accepts a command to tune the required channel. It sounds like this might help for you, too. ...

Re: HD PVR 2 review / feedback

Hi Gribnif. I'm curious how you managed to get your device working. My code, such as it is, is pretty rough right now. I definitely intend to share what I've done with the world, but I'm still having a big problem that I haven't had time to figure out. I can record one program (or live TV channel) ...

That being said, I can't run mythtv-setup as I get a little tiny window only and can't read a thing since it's all cut-off. Trying to solve that one.
Your default settings might be off somehow. Try running it from a Terminal prompt with "--geometry 1024x768" or the like appended.

Re: HD PVR 2 review / feedback

I recently broke down and bought a Blackmagic DeckLink Mini recorder. Like the Magewell mentioned previously, it is strictly a capture device. One difference is that it uses a PCIe slot. It is also fairly low-cost (about US $137). It is capable of capturing 1080i30 along with up to 16 channels of au...

Re: More current build instructions?

Stay away from High Sierra, if you can. It is not a supported platform for Qt and there are non-trivial usability problems with MythTV on that OS. I'm using a version of 0.28 that I compiled while still on Sierra, now with High Sierra, and see no problems. Or are the problems due to 29 using a newe...

Re: Best option to connect to Sat Set top box

Please note that you probably won't be able to find an IPTV encoder that does anything better than 2-channel audio. I just did another round of scouring the interwebs last week, and still couldn't find anything. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, though!

Re: Remote frontend setup

I think your problem is most likely either:
- MySQL is running on the backend without external networking enabled ("skip-networking" is set in /etc/my.cnf)
- or the frontend isn't allowed to access port 3306 (MySQL) due to a firewall rule

Re: How to use mythtv to record streaming on roky

I think maybe the OP was asking if it's possible to record (using Myth) streams that are playing through the Roku. If so, I don't think this is possible.

Live TV is, for me, just as inconsistent as always, regardless of OS. I suggest you look in the backend logs for clues to your problem.

Re: building native frontend for Tizen

The MythTV source contains both the frontend and the backend. While it used to be possible to tell "configure" not to build the backend, this no longer seems to be the case. There's not much advantage in doing so, anyway, as the backend and frontend share so much code that the time savings would be ...

Re: is it possible to schedule an hour of no recordings for

Another idea, if we're using SQL, look at SELECT cardid, inputname, schedorder, livetvorder FROM capturecard ORDER BY cardid; The orders will probably be 1, 2, 3 and 3, 2, 1 currently. You could change all of them to 0 (meaning the card won't be used.) Post reboot, restore the existing order. This isn...

Re: Need someone to check my backend build specs

That will probably be OK to record two programs at once while watching on one frontend, assuming you're not also trying to transcode at the same time. I can't find any specs on the hard drive interface, but if it's SATA 1, as I suspect, anything more than that could be a problem. I ran my BE on an A...
