Re: HD playback on a Pi3?

The FireTV 4K is kind of like the RPI4 in the sense that it's 64 bit architecture but the OS and apps are 32 bits. I know eventually the RPI4 will have a non-beta 64 bit OS, but not sure the future of FireTV 4K OS. I tried my original FireTV and quickly gave up and gave it to my son who watches Netf...

Re: HD playback on a Pi3?

FYI. All FireTVs are 32 bit software. The Regular FireTV will not work for HD. The FireTV 4K is the one I use.

Re: HD playback on a Pi3?

IMHO the RPI3 is not good at all for HD. You can make it acceptable to some by installing only LibreELEC with the pvr-mythtv addon. My wife thought that was okay before we got a FireTV 4K stick. The FireTV 4k is cheaper than the RPI3 or 4, and works much better as a frontend. Thanks for the comment...

MythTV v31 RPi4 install instructions

I just updated my installation instruction for MythTV v31 on a Raspberry PI 4 4GB. Thanks to MikeB for his pi-utils that really make this simple. This is primarily to keep me straight but others might find it useful. https://mythtv-rp4.blogspot.com/2020/11/how-i-installed-mythtv-v31-on-my-rpi-4.html

Re: Backend on Pi 4

I've never saves any images during setup. For me the time from start to finish is only 30 minutes so I don't worry about it. I have just updated my Mythtv blog to include my V31 MythTV install on the RPI4. It may help you or others. It's mainly for me next time I have to redo a setup https://mythtv-...

Re: Backend on Pi 4

IMHO, I do everything as pi user except when I setup XMLTV or run mythfilldatabase manually. that include running mythtv-setup. try installing lite and fixing all the locale settings with raspi-config. Then get the pi-utils that MikeB2013 created. I would do it that way at least once. It always work...

Re: Hauppauge USB drivers for L4T (ARM-based)

I saw on the Hauppauge Linux site that 19 hours ago they committed some code that is specific for Raspberry PI 2/3/4. Since your OS is on the same base as Ubuntu which is Debian, then maybe there is help coming?? https://github.com/b-rad-NDi/Ubuntu-media-tree-kernel-builder/releases/tag/v0.1-RPi.64b...

Re: Backend on Pi 4

Since on a RPI4 mythtv FE/BE combo you will not be running a Desktop Environment I usually start with Lite. Here's what I do: 1. Take USB3 SATA adapter and SSD to Linux computer and use Raspberry Imager to put the LIte image on the SSD. (may have to use microSD first if you're not on the latest eepr...

Re: Memory requirement

I've built a FE/BE combo on a RPI 4 4GB. It can record 4 HD programs from a Hdhomerun at once, while playing an HD program that's previously recorded.

Re: Using all the buttons on Air Mouse in mythfrontend

FYI, I did a fresh install of Linux Mint 20 with Cinnamon DE and it also has the complete shortcut setting utility as a part of the system settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts setup.
So I can use all my Air Mouse buttons on Mythtv on this system as well.

Using all the buttons on Air Mouse in mythfrontend

I have a development system running different Linuxes from time to time and I have mythfrontend on it running against a remote backend. The only remote control I have that works on this system is an Air Mouse. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Air_mouse_rf_remote There are always some useful buttons that ...

Re: Mythweb on RPI4 mythtv backend failing

Here's the latest. This morning I tried once again to use mythtweb on my RPI4 backend from an Ubuntu 20.04 Chrome browser and the main page come up, strangely. I then tried something other than the Status screen and it failed with a dump of PHP logs with a link to post a bug report but on the old Tr...

Re: My experience and questions with the Raspberry Pi 4

hmmm ... what OS are you running? I'm playing around with the new 64 bit Pi OS. Just tried to run that ansible stuff, but it just gave me an error saying that libcrystalhd-dev was not available. I suppose, this happens because ansible is not aware of the aarch64 - Platform. Did you install libcryst...

Re: Leanfront v0-218 fade to black

Well I have determined that the panning issue I described is only Zoom related. The same problem is repeatable in Leanfront at the same place in a recording. And it also occurs in Mythfrontend when you use the Full Fill option. However if I watch the program in it's broadcast form, not zoomed, it lo...
