Re: IR blasting: basic steps?

Been ages since I've used a blaster, but it didn't require a remote. Rather, the capture card I had also had a jack that an IR blaster plugged into. Just a plug/wire/LED like ir light. Sorry, I don't have anything to test with. There is a mythtv-setup per-capture-card option to add an external chang...

Re: Struggling with v31

I've not seen the FileTransfer directory issue either. So, sdmatt, check your storage groups. The message prints when the storage group (if empty uses: "Default") for the given hostname. That's why I'm asking about the difference in names. Although, the DB is configured to be case agnostic. Make sur...

Re: Struggling with v31

Curious, why does the 1st log show hostname "MythPC" and the 2nd use "mythPC"?

Is EIT the only program guide solution in use (as opposed to XMLTV, for example)?

Re: Is it safe to add new columns to a table? (created and modified timestamps in program)

FWIW, the SQLIte DB has half of what you want:

Code: Select all

Table: stations_schedules_hash
{
    "MD5":"9chnj8tRvM+GLAAeFMjB6g"
    "code":0
    "date":"2021-01-01"
    "lastModified":"2021-01-01T07:57:19Z" <<<<<<<<<<<<<
    "message":"OK"
    "response":"OK"
    "stationID":"20455"
}

Re: Is it safe to add new columns to a table? (created and modified timestamps in program)

Altering the DB isn't supported. Although you could choose column names that were extremely unlikely to be selected by a developer, there are places in the code that rely on column order. Just one example: https://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/tree/mythtv/libs/libmythtv/programdata.cpp#n401 If new col...

Consider this: find mythplugins/ -name "*.py" and you'll see a few
examples of Python source in the existing tree.

Re: connecting Mythweb across subnets

I was guessing that the couplets above were in existing .conf files. But here are things I have. If you connect via IPv6, as I do, append an address something like this: fdf9:abcd:1234:1::0/64 Don't use any of this directly, as it's been customized over the years. Just the Require lines are what I c...

Re: connecting Mythweb across subnets

If your .6 subnet works with mysql --user=mythtv --password=<from config.xml> --host=<your .3 subnet host> mythconverg
then I'd look at apache logs. Lines like these in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled might be of interest:

Code: Select all

Require all denied
Require ip 127.0.0.0/8 192.168.0.0/16 ::1/128

Re: Remote frontend can't connect

In mythtv-setup General->Host Address Backend Setup what does Primary IP Address/DNS Name
show.

The FE is connecting to the DB which is returning the localhost address.

Re: Remote frontend can't connect

Right, the config.xml file only stores where the DB lives. Not sure I understand the issue. If: "I changed all of the config.xml files to point to the new backend location, and it still connects to the old local backend." then the frontends are getting past the DB connection. I'd put a fresh copy of...

Re: Remote frontend can't connect

https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Config.xml#Troubleshooting especially comment about symbolic links. Also, I'd never change any package manager's .cnf files. Rather, find the directory for local changes and add a mythtv.cnf (or any name alphabetically lower than existing files) tail -3 /etc/mysql/mysql.c...

Re: Mythfilldatabase taking forever

5 hours seems long unless you've got a huge number of channels. As you probably read, the 1st time the grabber runs will take a long time. Look in /tmp/myth????. If it's running, the file will be growing. Depending on how mythfilldatabase was started, there may be a log, like /var/log/mythtv/ mythfi...

Re: Transcoding jobs not working all of a sudden

Double quotes.

I assume this works from the command line (run as user mythtv):

/home/ben/Scripts/myth_h264_transcode --starttime 20201205164300 --chanid 80090 --title "The Garden Gurus" --outdir /home/ben/Videos

Be sure that /home/bin/Videos is writable by user mythtv.

Re: Transcoding jobs not working all of a sudden

The default service name in Ubuntu is mythtv-backend. Just using that will
automatically append .service or you can use the full name:
mythtv-backend.service

Re: Where is Recording Options menu in mythtv v31

In the Schedule Editor, press m if using a keyboard. In the Steppes theme, there's a note at the top of the page that recommends that (or, for me, using the Home or End key to cycle through the options). This wasn't done before v31 and was intended to put the most frequently used options on the main...
