Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

I didn't see mention of restarting Apache: sudo systemctl restart apache2.service
after making changes.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

The XML tags shouldn't be there.

Odd that the original failure had no user name (it was '') and was using password NO.

The above edit is under sites-available, which is OK. But does an entry in sites-enabled exist? It's just a link to the
file in sites-available.

See: man a2ensite.

Re: Really bad closed caption on some recordings.

Not having the issue with master (v32-Pre). It may have been fixed in v31 as well. I can't test it.
I tested on Telemundo and Univision (I know that's spelled wrong) and while I can't
read Spanish, there were no odd looking words.

Re: (2018) Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

That's OK, but the intent of having the config.xml file in /etc/mythtv is to have
symbolic links to it from any users (yourself and mythtv).

Copying the file creates yet another file that must be kept updated. See man ln
for details.

Re: no DB connection after updates

Well, you've got it right, the BE should use localhost in config.xml (unless the DB is on another host).

Remote config.xml files should have the hostname/IP of the DB.

Re: no DB connection after updates

Hi, Well, you've got it right, the BE should use localhost in config.xml (unless the DB is on another host). Remote config.xml files should have the hostname/IP of the DB. Forget about MythTV for starters and be sure this works: mysql --host=192.168.0.8 --user=mythtv --password=yourPasswordHere myth...

Re: default for recordings startoffset and endoffset

Take a look in mythfrontend Setup->Video->General->General (Advanced):.
Values there are in seconds, so 180 and 420. Similar affect, but not startoffset
and endoffset. The help text has a good description.

Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

Understood. Grabbers aren't MythTV products. Looking at the above, I'm assuming that SD is the name of your MythTV source (which is fine). MythTV appends .xmltv to the source name and looks in the .mythtv directory of the user running the command. That's typically user mythtv when the backend runs i...

Re: Configuring XMLTV Prior to V31 upgrade

I assume you're following the Wiki in the forum link above. Not sure about the giggle comment, but tv_grab_zz_sdjson --configure --config-file $HOME/.mythtv/SD.xmltv just configures things, I'd expect it to "just stops". [I run the SQLite version, so won't help much, and I'm not suggesting you need ...

Re: Leanfront idle for backend shutdown?

Try: mythbackend --setverbose idle (on a running backend). Look in the backend logs for a message containing: Blocking shutdown because of delay request from external application mythbackend --setverbose idle:notice turns off the additional logging. Leanfront has code that keeps the backend up while...

Left out the simple solution, change setenv db_server "localhost" to use the IP and restart apache2.

Re: mythweb Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost'

See if Mint has an entry in /etc/hosts for localhost. Or, anywhere your backend uses to do hostname resolution. I recall that localhost must have an entry in the user table as well as the above '%' entry if other hosts are allowed to access the DB. My user table looks similar to yours for those colu...

Re: Upgrade to MySQL 8 - root user and password?

The root user for MySQL (and MariaDB) is normally root. I've never seen otherwise. Debian has a maintenance user/password here: sudo cat /etc/mysql/debian.cnf . In my experience, it's used for things like you're trying to do. You could edit your initial post and modify the Subject: line to include y...

Re: mythweb Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost'

You don't have a LocalHostName, so LocalEnabled false is OK (and common). Bad news is that this is pretty simple, if the mysql command works, then mythweb will. Or, at least fail for some other reason. Note the DB host is a Private Network address. If the DB is on the same host as the backend, then ...
