Re: Mythfilldatabase runs, but doesn't insert into guide

Note that: Result: mythfilldatabase ran, but did not insert any new data into th Guide for 1 of 1 sources. This can indicate a potential grabber failure is an observation, not an error. If you run MFDB and they're no new programs, you'll get this message. I saw fixed above, so I'm marking the Subjec...

Re: Myth doesn't connect to Silicon Dust tuner properly after power outage

It's started by Upstart, if memory serves. Try looking in /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf
or something like that. http://upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/#pre-start

Re: waking from suspend, then shutting down

You can do systemctl cat mythtv-backend.service or just get specific properties to see if ADDITIONAL_ARGS is in play: systemctl --no-pager show --property=ExecStart,EnvironmentFiles mythtv-backend.service ExecStart={ path=/usr/local/bin/mythbackend ; argv[]=/usr/local/bin/mythbackend --logpath /var/...

Re: waking from suspend, then shutting down

@Linuxgrrl, check the timestamp of the message and see if it matches the time you're attempting the checklogin (I suspect not.) Also the message is informational, note the " I " in the message. The full message (which only occurs once early in the startup sequence) in my logs looks like: 2021-03-14 ...

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

Are all of the <Directory> linens in all of the .conf files in /etc/apache2/sites-available
set to the same locations? This looks different (but I'm not an Apache person).

/etc/apache2/sites-available/mythweb.conf looks like this: <Directory "/var/www/html/data">

Re: watching live TV for long periods: can I?

You could check the backend log for anything unexpected at the time the recording stops.
Checking each time the recording unexpectedly stops may show a similar event. Not a
guarantee, but worth a shot.

Re: preventing mythtv.cnf updates??

Change the bind address from 0.0.0.0 (any IPv4 addresses) to :: (any IPv4 or IPv6 addresses). I'm not sure why more folks aren't finding this. Or, maybe they are just dealing with it and not reporting. In any case, the only check I see happens when ^bind-address=0.0.0.0$ is found and it gets comment...

@ mathog, I was just pointing out that upgrading to v31 isn't guaranteed to
fix the issue.

I'm marking this solved, but future readers should note the comment two above.
Be sure recording rules (old ones and templates) have auto expire set.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

I doubt this will help. The password is prompted for before the mythweb page is used. Doesn't hurt to have it though. In fact, the developer recommends using it. Something like: htdigest -c /etc/apache2/passwd/passwords mythweb someNameYouWantToLoginAs My file is in a different place. Mine looks sim...

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

mysql --host=... was just a test, it doesn't fix anything. localhost is correct. Other hosts connect to mythweb on the backend, which then accesses the DB. At least, that's what my: setenv db_server "localhost" is set to. You'll see LogLevel in some of the Apache .conf files. Mine's set to warn. You...

Re: Really bad closed caption on some recordings.

I have v31 running on 18.04, but build from source.

It could be a difficult test just to see if captions are better
for you.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

It's just a test of the user/password/host credentials. If you were logged into the DB,
then all is well DB login wise.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

The mysql command just logs into the DB. Type control D to exit.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

OK, reboots work fine. You can save time by just restarting Apache though. I'd check for clues in the Apache log. sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log Then attempt to access mythweb again. It still concerns me that the the error message has the empty string '' where 'myhtv' should be. You may wan...
