Re: Frontend forgetting server on Shield

Your shield frontend is likely using UPNP to get the backend info. When it does this it gets the backend ip address or dns name from the backend via UPNP, and updates it every time you start the frontend. One suggestion - you can change the PIN on the backend (normally defaults to 0000). The shield ...

Re: Frontend forgetting server on Shield

In your mythbackend, mythtv-setup -> General -> Host Address Backend Setup -> Primary IP Address/DNS name do you have the backend ip address set as the host name or the ip address? Try setting it to the ip address.

Re: Firestick 4K MythFrontend Video Frame Buffering Failed too many times.

In frontend, Setup -> Video -> Playback-> Current video playback profile. Select Mediacodec playback profile. If there is none available in the list, add a new playback profile and select it. Right arrow on the profile. In the list, Below "Add new entry", There should be an entry for mediacodec. If ...

Re: Prevent recording duplicate tv show episodes with different Program IDs

Who is your provider? Using Schedules direct I have had the problem very occasionally, and normally only when something is rebroadcast a year or more later, not a few days later.

Re: waking from suspend, then shutting down

In mythtv-setup ->General->shutdown/wakeup options->pre-shutdown check command put the name os a script that returns 1 to prevent shutdown, 0 to allow shutdown.

You can use something like the check for konsole above. Add "exit 1" if the process is running.

Re: "Tuning => Failing" and PES header errors

If it is a cable-card (AFAIK required for Comcast) then there is no channel scan possible.

In my experience, with a Ceton cable-card tuner, the message "PES start code not found in TS packet with PUSI set" comes in large quantity if you try to record from a channel to which you are not subscribed.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

It should look like this

Code: Select all

        setenv db_server "localhost"
        setenv db_name "mythconverg"
        setenv db_login "mythtv"
        setenv db_password "xxxxxx"

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

The db name, login and password are in the $HOME/.mythtv/config.xml file on all frontends and backend, of the user that runs mythtv (perhaps mythtv user). So /home/mythtv/.mythtv/config.xml.

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

There are many mythtv packages. Mythweb is a separate package from mythtv-backend-master. Did you install mythweb? mythweb is only installed if you install it specifically or if you install mythplugins. This is illogical since mythplugins is a frontend package. I suggest install mythweb, or uninstal...

Re: MythWeb only with warnings and errors

Something must have gone wrong with your installation. The install should set up php and apache so that it has access to everything needed. I do not use the packages, but I have written up the steps needed to set up mythweb from scratch. These definitely work. I have it running now and I documented ...

Re: Leanfront idle for backend shutdown?

If you repeatedly press return until it goes away, or press the home key, it is effectively shut down and will not keep the backend awake. Leanfront will not send the keep awake messages to mythbackend when leanfront is not visible on screen. If there is some situation where it is doing that, please...

Re: Raspberry PI version of Mythtv v31 still at v31.0-59?

The latest version on bintray is v31.0-54-g445cf1fe6b-0. The latest version of v31 source is v31.0-130-g016630a35c. However the changes between 54 and 130 are almost all if not all unrelated to raspberry pi support, so I have not built a newer raspberry pi version on bintray.

Re: IR blasting: basic steps?

When I was recording from a cable box I used and iguanaworks transmitter https://www.iguanaworks.net/products/usb-ir-transceiver/ . It worked well but was very painful to set up. It used lirc but I had to compile lirc myself to include the iguanaworks driver. I still have notes I made at the time if...

Re: Audio and Video stutter when playing TrueHD movies

I recommend increasing the audio read ahead.

In frontend - Setup -> Video -> Playback -> Advanced Playback Settings -> Audio Read ahead. Increase it to 1000 or 2000.

Trying leanfront again on the fire stick gen2, MPEG2 as well as H264 seem to work well now. The only problem I see is that there is no deinterlace.
