Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!

For those who use the sqlite grabber, login as a different user than mythtv, and run into the problem where mythfilldatabase works from the mythwelcome menu (as their login user) but fails when run on schedule (as mythtv user,) I found that not only must the DB file be writable by both users, but th...

Some "media keys" not recognized in key mapping?

I don't know whether this is a MythTV issue, or an OS issue (configuration or capability,) or just something that's not possible with Linux/MythTV. I have a remote that transmits "Windows Media Keys." Those "extra" keys on some keyboards such as play, pause, ff/rw, etc. Some of them, such as pause, ...

Re: What is the use of full transport strream channels?

As I understand it... MPTS is "Multiple Program Transport Stream" and SPTS is "Single Program Transport Stream." MPTS is multiple programs multiplexed into one stream. For instance, if you have over-the-air channel "3" that has four sub-channels (3_1, 3_2, 3_3, 3_4) that's MPTS. If there's only one ...

Re: Good remotes?

After using the Inteset a bit more, the "lagginess" or failure to respond is at least partly related to pointing orientation. If I point the remote horizontally, there is often no response, unless I lift my arm high. If I orient the remote vertically, with the buttons facing me, it responds more con...

Backend only? No, mine is combined backend/frontend, also using a WinTV-QuadHD, but feel free to ask anything. Components about a year old.

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!

Reporting a problem. When I let mythfilldatabase run automatically on schedule, it fails. mythconverg shows: mythfilldatabaseLastRunStatus FAILED: XMLTV grabber returned error code 1. When I run mythfilldatabase from mythwelcome, it works. I suspect it's a user problem. I log in as my own user, and ...

Re: Good remotes?

As far as the "lagginess", anybody know how an IR receiver such as this (USB connection) is set up? It it working as a serial port on some /dev/tty* device? What other "layers" are involved in making it appear as a keyboard to the system? Wondering if I can try changing the baud rate, hopefully in a...

Re: Good remotes?

Initial impressions of the Inteset INT422-3 remote and IReTV receiver. The IReTV receiver just worked, no setup required. (Xubuntu 19.*) Remote button C selects the presets for Windows Media Center. (Of course, this can be changed.) Windows Media Center is probably the easiest starting point for con...

Re: Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?

Update: The symptoms I described (actual HDTV programs not listed as such) were when I was using SchedulesDirect DataDirect. I've just updated to the SchedulesDirect XMLTV/JSON grabber, and noticed that these programs are now listed as HDTV. Plus there seems to be a lot more info about programs (tha...

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!

Is the xmltvid column used only by mythfilldatabase, to match up channels to myth's internal ids? If so, updating a channel's xmltvid (and nothing else) while the backend is running (and possibly preparing to record) should not cause any conflict, right? But if mythfilldatabase runs in the middle of...

Got it. My reply still shows it's in my outbox, so I don't know it's been sent. Is that normal for the board? My answer was yes.

Good remotes?

Looking for a good remote that has enough buttons for the major functions used while browsing/viewing/scheduling in MythTV, without too many irrelevant/mislabeled buttons. (I can continue to use a keyboard for more advanced setup/configuration.) One that looks clean, that is. Sure, I can repurpose a...

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!

I am taking the approach of setting up the grabber and testing it before I configure MythTV to use it. (Leaving my existing DataDirect video source working for now.) As long as MythTV doesn't know about the source yet, it should ignore the DB and config files in .mythtv and .xmltv, right? Won't caus...

Re: Prevent Auto shutdown Whilst streaming

Also, be aware that the "lock" is a counter. If you lock twice, you have to unlock twice. This means you can run multiple scripts concurrently that lock shutdown, as long as they do one lock at the beginning and one unlock at the end, and MythTV should keep track of how many locks there are.
