Re: Prevent Auto shutdown Whilst streaming
Streaming how? In a program external to MythTV? (Chrome browser, etc?) Yes, you can do it, if you launch the external program via a script. Use mythshutdown --lock before you launch the program, and mythshutdown --unlock after. Don't launch anything in your script with '&' at the end of the command ...

Something hangs? Maybe mythcommflag? Can't connect to backend?
I occasionally have a problem where, my system is on (woke up to record,) but when I turn on the TV, mythwelcome shows it is still recording a show that ended hours ago, and that jobs are being run. (I have commercial flagging run while recording.) If I try to start mythfrontend, it can't connect to...

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!
Wait, the file generated in /tmp? Does that mean mythtv downloads JSON but saves it as XML before parsing? As long as it works, lol.
Any advantages of the sqlite one? I read it requires more setup, but is it better in any way?

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!
Would you please clear something up? It's been a few months since I set up my system (v30 I think) and I forget the distinctions between the different grabbers. I got it working and have left it alone since then. I know I get program data from SchedulesDirect, and that it is downloaded in an XML for...

Re: Programatically exit mythfrontend?
Here's what I found out, trying the Frontend service. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Frontend_Service First, the examples shown are GET requests, which always returned 404. But they work with a POST request (if the frontend is running. If not, they always return 404.) SendAction with Action=EXITPROMPT ...

Programatically exit mythfrontend?
Is there any way an external script can cause mythfrontend (if running) to exit in the normal way, asking the user "Do you really want to exit MythTV?" with a yes/no choice? I have an IR sensor for my power button (SIMEREC PCS-1) which works great to turn the system on, but I'd like to make pressing...

Re: Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?
Yeah, I've already renamed channels that are HD so I can see that when manually searching. For my "power search" rules where I only want to find HD shows, I've added a list of the chanids I know are HD. Sometimes I get a "true HD" recording, and sometimes "upscaled 480" but I just delete anything I ...

Re: Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?
Some more info. It's going to be hit or miss finding shows not flagged as HDTV that actually are. I recorded one such movie last night from MyNetworkTV. The recording is actually 720. But the image is a 4x3 letterboxed image that is obviously from an SD source. Blurry, but as watchable as any SD rec...

Re: Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?
OK. Tried one. This is ION virtual channel 26.1 in the Hartford, CT area. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" EP003169780061 at 10pm EST, or 2019-11-24T03:00:00 UTC. VideoProp is 0. When I watch it live and press i twice, the popup shows it's HD720. When I view the info screen for the program (press...

Re: Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?
I've also noticed there are channels (one, anyway) that broadcast HD, but none of the program listings reflect that. My ION is 720p and the picture seems as clear as that, but schedule info never shows hdtv for anything on it. I'm sure part of the mixup is because whoever creates the data for some c...

Identifying HDTV channels, not programs?
Is there a way, with a sql query, to identify an HDTV channel? I don't find anything in mythconverg for this. There is only program.hdtv, which is per-program, not channel. I have noticed that channels that are HD sometimes have programs where program.hdtv=0. When I view such a program, the recordin...

Aspect wrong, whose fault? (channel? epg? myth?)
I've got a few channels where recorded programs play with the wrong aspect ratio. I can override it to the correct ratio when playing, but I'm wondering where MythTV gets the data for aspect ratio. Is it from the channel itself? Or from the channel info from SchedulesDirect? Or somewhere else? I thi...

Error concealment?
Anybody familiar with this, and know if it is possible to configure the system to use it? Basically, when data is missing from a stream, it makes a "guess" to try to make the image look a bit better, I think. I've been googling this since I found a reference to it, but not yet sure if/how I can use ...

Re: how to "rescan" on MythTV
I haven't had to deal with this because the channels in my area had moved (in August) before I got my system running to the point of scheduling recordings. Not sure if there is another phase coming. I did run some rescans while setting the system up, didn't have to delete anything first, and didn't ...
