Re: Acer Aspire

Yes. You can simply remove HDD.
Regarding sleep: sleep/resume is default regime for MM2. Target is that You boot it only for update with new image. Normal operation is sleep and resume.
Regarding remote control via IP: You can:
-use telnet to cotrol MythTV
-use VNC to control whole MM2 appliance

Re: Acer Aspire

Thought we should move to a new thread for this. If using an Aspire Revo (R3610) with MM2, is/can the hard disk be removed? Can they sleep when not in use for faster start than full boot? Is that under manual control or automatic, or both? Of course. Key feature of MM2 is diskless operation. Regard...

Re: Rasberry PI 2 ?

I got the info mainly from:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_AspireRevo That states the 3600 has the same CPU as 1600. Obviously could be wrong, are you sure the 3600 has dual core? In which case, what's the difference between the 3600 and the 3610? Indeed 1600 and 3600 seems bot to be single co...

Re: What about this?

Where does OpenMAX fit in? Isn't that software? The Matrix 2 comes with Android installed and there is at least 1 Android Frontend for MythTV, so I'm trying to understand where OpenMAX fits into all that. Is it something to do with Android or with that Matrix 2 specifically? As I said, trying to ge...

Re: Rasberry PI 2 ?

So would I be correct in thinking that the Acer Aspire Revo is a good choice for MM2? Anyone know the difference between the R1600 and the R3600? R1600 is single core Atom while R3600 is dual core Atom. Both are Nv9400M so video will be very good. For pure Mythtv both will work OK - but with single...

Re: Rasberry PI 2 ?

OK, no good then. I'll search for some ION based alternatives. Would I be right in thinking that ION2 would be better than ION1? Oh this is not obvious: ION1 +GFX to CPU via fast DMI -Nvidia9400M (gfx in ION1) can't HW decode DIVIX -Nvidia9400M (gfx in ION1) can't do Advanced 2x HW DI ION2 -GFX to ...

Re: Apple TV

The 1st gen used a 1 GHz Intel "Crofton" Pentium M and Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 with 64 MB of VRAM and 256 MB of system RAM. So not wildly powerful, but runs XBMC ok. I wondered how MM2 would get on. I've no idea about PXE boot. Perhaps someone else can help with this? Hmm - GeForce Go 7300 means no ...

Re: Rasberry PI 2 ?

Well, Key differentiators of MM2 over other disk-less alternatives are: 1.Very simple install (only copy of 2 files + some TFTP/DHCP/HTTP config changes) 2.Full plug-and-play 3.PXE boot with RAMdisk based root FS For me 3 has advantage over alternatives like NFS root based solutions (i.e. LTSP https...

I think going here is better option as here it can be useful for more ppl (especially for current/new mythtv users interested in MM2)

Re: Early Stage Sanity Check

@VideoSooner I potentially see high similarities for Your target setup/architecture and mine: central server providing majority of possible media to terminals in all relevant house rooms. I'm using such setup with MythTV in basement head-less server location and minimyth2 diskless terminals providin...
