Re: v31 configuration guide?

When testing, I used a hard link for the <source name>.xmltv files. Just one more thing to
administer (and break.)

Re: v31 configuration guide?

^^^ Agree! The "Filesystem Hierarchy Standard" is here: https://refspecs.linuxfoundation.org/FHS_3.0/fhs/index.html and /var/lib/<name> is the right place. Ignore the trailing / issue, The various Release Notes should help with any major changes. [And since you're in the States and possibly using Sc...

Re: XMLTV grabber for Schedules Direct JSON

SchedulesDirect.DB is the default name suggested by the configuration
program - and it will work just fine. In my experience, most folks just use
it. But, it's just a file name. You could choose (making life a bit more
difficult) to have one database for each MythTV source name.

Re: mythweb recorded programs tab halts recording

No configurable way to turn off mythpreviewgen that I'm aware of. You could move
mythpreviewgen to mythpreviewgen.original and then replace it with a shell script like:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
exit 0
Make it executable, naturally. Worth a shot to prove your idea that it's the cause.

Re: Program Guide All Channels Unknown (Unknown)

If you elect to run the XMLTV configuration as a user other than the user that the backend is run as, then you must duplicate the <sourcename>.xmltv files for at least two users, e.g. mythtv and yourself. The recommended way is to configure as user mythtv and if running mythfilldatabase on the comma...

Re: Schedules Direct no longer working with MythFillDatabase

Just a difference of opinion here (not a problem). The Wiki recommends running the XMLTV configuration as the same user that runs the backend, typically user mythtv. And, when running MFDB, run it as the same user. That way, there's only a single set of .mythtv/<source name(s)>.xmltv files to mainta...

Re: Mythweb missing index.html, index.php.

I did this in 2008 or so. The INSTALL file is the guide I used. I put mine in /var/www/mythweb. /etc/apache2/sites-enabled$ egrep "mythweb|/var/www" * 000-default.conf: DocumentRoot /var/www/html 000-default-mythbuntu.conf: DirectoryIndex mythweb 000-default-mythbuntu.conf: DocumentRoot /var/www 000...

Re: Mythweb missing index.html, index.php.

Works for me without the 2 index files. Suggest looking in the web server's configuration files. Also, sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log may reveal something. Here's mine FWIW. Noting that mythweb.pl is executable: drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 May 18 2018 classes/ drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Ap...

Re: mythweb recorded programs tab halts recording

Best I can suggest is: sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/error.log

Then recreate the issue and see if there are any clues in the
log output.

Re: Program Guide All Channels Unknown (Unknown)

Looks as if the setup was done as user jjthomas. Running mythfilldatabase from the backend will fail unless user mythtv has access to files. Suggest running the setup as user mythtv per the Wiki so that you end up with filed under ~mythtv/.mythtv and ~mythtv/.xmltv. Then if running MFDB from the com...

Re: mythweb recorded programs tab halts recording

Can't duplicate using the above. Does dpkg -l mythweb show the a 31.0+fixes version?
Mine is: 2:31.0+fixes.202006221826.1182a9a~ubuntu20.04.1, but it's on a test host I
don't keep updated.

Re: Database problem?

The initial comment: "My harddrive finally died and I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04LTS and MythTV today." suggests a clean install rather than an upgrade. I build from source and don't speak installing from the ppa well. I know others have done clean installs and the DB server is included. Maybe you can ...

Re: Database problem?

To see if the SQL daemon is running: systemctl status mysql . Expect to see: Active: active (running) in the output. systemctl status mythtv-backend to see if the backend is running. Usually, screen shots aren't required. /var/log/mythtv will have logs of interest. They can be attached or use pasteb...

Re: Program Guide All Channels Unknown (Unknown)

This line in mythfilldatabase.log : No channels are configured to use grabber. Means that no channel has an XMLTVID set. Assuming that you've never had this working. I'd recommend using: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/XMLTV#Types_of_Schedules_Direct_Grabbers because if you ever intend to upgrade past v...
