Re: themecache of unusually large size

You can safely delete the cache files. It may make loading some screens in the FE a little slow the first time you access them since the cached images will have to be recreated. There is some new stuff to prune the caches but not sure what version that made it into. It may be 30.0 only. In the grand...

Re: MythMusic CD information - Freedb

Nothing was ever decided but the thinking was given the lack of developers and developer time it would be better to concentrate on what Myth is good at and that is schedule and record TV so work on improving mythbackend and also improve the services API and allow third party projects like Kodi to pr...

Re: MythMusic CD information - Freedb

We do already use the Musicbrainz mirror for the cddb database which uses their own database. The problem is the way the lookup works doesn't always return one single result but there may be several completely unrelated cd's returned. We currently assume the first result is the correct one which as ...

Re: mythtv not finding tuners when autostarting

There is nothing to fix in MythTV since it's not it's fault it's a problem with the way your distro has set things up. :?

Re: MythMusic on slave frontend not seeing music dir from master backend

IIRC you need to define both 'Music' and 'MusicArt' storage groups on the master BE or a slave BE should also work.

Only the BE needs direct access to the music files all the FE's will use storage groups to access them.

Re: Second mythfrontend restarts on its own.

Do you have "Automatically save session on logout' turned on in the Session and Startup options? If the FE is running when you shut down I guess that will restart that FE as well as the one in the startup script when you reboot. The other option is the startup script is thinking the FE has crashed a...

Re: Second mythfrontend restarts on its own.

It's unlikely to be Myth doing this. The only time Myth would start the FE is when MythWelcome is used and it determines the system was started by a user and not stated to record something. We really need more info about your setup, what distro, what desktop environment, any start up scripts used et...

It shoudn't be a problem so long as it is not a commercial product.

Re: LinuxMint18 Make Install Errors

My guess would be you are haven't got QtScript or it's development counterpart installed. Don't now about Mint but they will be probably be called something like qtscript5 and qtscript5-dev.

Re: Debugging, log keyboard entries seen by frontend?

I think the answer is to swap the wife or get her retrained to use other keys   If all else fails you may be able to achieve what you want by adding some <triggerevent> to your theme in the definition for <guidegrid> No idea if it will work but they would look something like this <tri...

Re: Debugging, log keyboard entries seen by frontend?

There is no extra debugging you can enable for that. The only thing you can do is add extra logging in appropriate places and recompile which may not be something you want to do. It's possible what has happened is your remote now has in kernel support that makes remotes look and act like small keybo...

Maybe you have that recording rule using a different Storage Group and that storage group hasn't been set up properly so is trying to record to / ?

Re: Video Playback At Double Speed, VLC Corrects the Problem

You win this months prize for the strangest problem reported  Do you see any differences in the frontend log when it works and when it doesn't? I have a suspicion it could be audio related since I have a vague recollection of others having a similar problem with the video playing back to quick ...

Re: Transcoding in webfrontend

I believe it is supposed to support on the fly HLS transcoding but when I tried it recently it didn't work :( The developer who was working on it is AWOL and we are not sure if it got broken by recent changes or just never worked. It could just be it needs some special voodoo to set up that I'm miss...

Re: hvr-1265 ntsc sound problem

I'm not familiar with this card how does the analog tuner present itself. Does it show up as a standard V4l2 device? See if it shows up if you run v4l2-ctl --all If it does then there are lots of V4l2 tools to query and set the various parameters to see if the card is working correctly. I've used th...
