Re: Christmas themes now available for MythTV 30 and 31
Did no one notice the polar bears in one of the backgrounds :?: You don't see many of them wandering down the high street here  I've done a little research on the painting. The artist is actually an American called Dennis Lewan born in 1948 from Thorp, Wisconsin. The painting is called Polar Be...

Re: Separate always-on WebFrontend
 You can set up the Pi as the master BE with the database and MythWeb , you will have to add at least one tuner to it but that can be one you don't use like a fake external tuner or IPTV tuner. Use your existing BE as a slave BE. You can set up the master to wake any slaves when needed to reco...

Re: Mythmusic Import CD Hangs
Yes the hang when importing a CD is caused by the cddb lookup. It has already been fixed in master by simply removing all the cddb lookup stuff which MusicBrainz no longer supports and there are no free cddb services available we can use. So in master you can RIP a CD but you have to manually enter ...

Re: How does one play an audio CD with mythmusic?
 What I meant by the CD's are so 20th Century comment is most people don't play the actual CD they either buy their music in digital form or if they do have a CD they rip the music from it and play the digital copy. There are many advantages to doing that like you don't have to go hunting for ...

Re: Remotes with sturdy switches???
This guy recently posted about a remote he was manufacturing. Not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for. Personally I don't like the look of it and it's quite expensive for what it is. https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?t=4076 https://www.tindie.com/products/bdmicrocraft/remote-control-f...

5 new background images added to the MythCenterXMAS theme including one curiosity :-)
I've just added 5 more background images to the XMAS theme including one I couldn't resist adding! My parents got a box canvas that lights up from the inside with a snowy image of what I guess is an English village scene on it. There are some cottages, a church, a river & bridge with some people ska...

Re: Mythtv 0.31 | Ubuntu 18.04 | VBox XTi 3340 Firmware 2.66
If you mean is v29/v30 broken in the same way then yes they are. Typically fixes for bugs are committed to master and after a week or so are usually also committed to the current fixes branch so currently v31. We usually don't fix earlier branches although that is at the discretion of the developer....

Re: database connections suddenly not working
I'd start by checking MySQL or MariaDB is actually running OK and then try to connect to it on the commandline using the same user and password used by MythTV.

Are you perhaps using Wayland?

There is some potential workaround on that ticket you could try.

Re: Pre-1940 Movies lose Original Air Date in mythtweb
I've committed a fix to master that allows for any original air dates after 1895-12-28 which according to Google is the date of the first commercial movie screening. I'll allow it to sit in master a few days and if there are no problems reported back port it to fixes-31

Re: Mythtv 0.31 | Ubuntu 18.04 | VBox XTi 3340 Firmware 2.66
I've committed a simple change to master that seems to find the VBoxes OK. I haven't used mythtv-setup to add a VBox in a long while and I don't remember it being so clunky before. It sometimes takes ages for the busy dialog to go away and on one occasion it seemed to lock up completely. Anyone else...

Re: Pre-1940 Movies lose Original Air Date in mythtweb
Don't know about MythWeb but just discovered the same problem exists in the frontend as well. There is code to explicitly ignore dates before 1940 for some reason.

Re: Mythtv 0.31 | Ubuntu 18.04 | VBox XTi 3340 Firmware 2.66
Yes that looks like a good option. I have 3 VBox all different models and they all have similar UDN uuid's starting with b7531642-0123-3210.
All my VBoxes are 1st generation though. It would be nice to see if 2nd and 3rd generation boxes follow the same format.

Re: Mythtv 0.31 | Ubuntu 18.04 | VBox XTi 3340 Firmware 2.66
How strange :!: That kind off looks like a bug or oversight in the VBox firmware. If you compare it to mine many of the references to VBox are missing. For example the friendlyName in previous firmwares was 'VBox TV Gateway (xxxxx)' but yours is ' TV Gateway (xxxxx)' (notice the space before TV it's...
