Re: Update seems to have broken upnp and a few other things

The desktop VLC UPnP client is horribly broken*. They use libupnp which was broken 18 months ago by some security patches, apparently no-one noticed for 9 months and it took them another 9 months to apply fixes (After I nagged them). libupnp is now fixed, but most distros will still be using the bro...

Re: UPNP on xbmc

The client (XBMC Kodi @ to 192.168.0.102) requests the device description, which we send in response. It seems XBMC completely ignores the response, which suggests it's an XBMC bug, but I can only speculate about why it doesn't like our response. Some clients ignore servers which state a higher supp...

Re: UPNP on xbmc

Try "-v http, upnp --loglevel=debug" then we'll get the actual requests being made by the client. UPnP and DLNA is universal, but many clients are very badly implemented. Even ones that claim stuff like "DLNA Compliance" turn out not to follow the specs when you look closer at them. When I last looke...

Re: UPNP on xbmc

Try with the latest master again, there was a regression in MythTV affecting a minority of upnp clients which I fixed last night by reverting the problem code.

Re: Difficulty creating forum account

We're happy with the setup. The sheer volume of spam it's blocking would overwhelm us otherwise (every refusal is logged, 99% are for usernames with random characters and disposable email addresses). The DNS blacklists we're using are configured by default for phpbb's anti-spam plugin, not ones we'v...

Re: Poor Quality in MythTV compared to VLC

Another possibility to consider is whether you've got the "Deblocking filter" enabled in the Video Profile you are using. This isn't necessary for all video sources, but is definitely required for others. Without the deblocking filter you may see macro-block artifacts which could be what you are des...

Re: MythFrontend lost track of all recordings but one

There is a script included with MythTV for checking and repairing the database, different distributions install it in different locations, but search for optimize_mythdb.pl

Re: GetRecorded and RemoveRecorded api calls

The Services API will remain backwards compatible, at least for a good while and we will advise well ahead of time when older endpoints or arguments are dropped. At least that's the plan, the API is still young and evolving as design errors are put right.

Re: Coonecting a DLNA server to MythTV backend as another so

Not currently.

This is a feature I'm looking to work on but I can't give a time line. At this stage I'd have to say it's unlikely, though never impossible, that it will be in the next MythTV release.

Re: Recording live subtitles - can it be done?

The subtitles can be captured, MythTV does this by default alongside the video and audio, however your problem will be that DVB subtitles are image based and I'd imagine you'd want to convert that to text. To do that, without having someone manually transcribe them you'd need to feed the subtitle im...

Re: GetRecorded and RemoveRecorded api calls

It's very unfortunate that this old internal confusion has been carried over into the Services API. It should not have happened, but the good news is that from 0.28 we introduce a new 'recording id' value which is intended to be used instead, it should be less confusing and less error prone than pro...

Re: Recording fails,.. that started successfully

No MythTV doesn't reload the driver, in most cases it can't because it won't have permissions to do so. It's expected that the driver doesn't get itself into an unrecoverable broken state to begin with. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but it seems like this is a bug in the drivers that can only ...

Re: Difficulty creating forum account

It appears the IP addresses you were trying from were listed by several well respected blacklists. I've tweaked the weightings but it simply wouldn't have made any difference in your case since so many sources were in agreement. These blacklists are used almost universally by everyone from small sit...
