Re: Can't find channels (am I missing something)

wes@mythfe0:~$ ls /dev/dvb adapter0 adapter1 adapter2 adapter3 adapter4 adapter5 You should not need a DTA unless you want to take your cable connection to an old analog TV, or input the analog signal into the analog side of your tuner card. http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/digi...

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

Any idea why I'm getting the localhost errors in the remote frontend log: I MythCoreContext: Connecting to backend server: localhost:6543 (try 1 of 1) E Unable to connect to database! and No address defined for host: localhost It's as if the frontend is trying to connect to a local backend, which d...

Re: Can't find channels (am I missing something)

Do you have /dev/dvb/adapter0 ? That's the digital tuner. if not get it working first. Make sure the source cable is plugged into the digital port and not the analog port, unless comcast still transmits analog. I don't know. I'm not familiar with comcast cable. Do they transmit clear qam? If not, yo...

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

Well I'm not positive which upgrade overwrites the mythtv.cnf file, but I assumed it was the mythtv upgrade because it was over written every time it was upgraded. And I don't know why there would be a mythtv.cnf file in a mysql upgrade.

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

forget the ipv6 thing. That was another problem. Every time you upgrade mythtv, mythtv.cnf gets overwritten and the bind address will be commented out. Just comment out the bind-address in my.cnf and mythtv.cnf and try that. That is supposed to open up all ports to both ipv4 and ipv6 addresses. And ...

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

Did you try commenting out the bind-address directive? Also just noticed your ipv6 address. It didn't work right with my right ipv6 address either. had to change it in mythtv-setup to ::1 Do you have a firewall set? That's all I can think of at the moment.

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

You can't bind your local ip in my.cnf if you want access from other ip's, unless you put another bind-address later that will open it up. That's why I use my own xmythtv.cnf file that binds to 0.0.0.0, which opens it to all addresses.I made it xmythtv.cnf, because every fricking update over wrote t...

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

Did you restart mysqld after you added the file? I assume you're running a newer version of mysql. If not, you need to just comment out the skip-networking in /etc/mysql/my.cnf. and this should be the last line of my.cnf.
!includedir /etc/mysql/conf.d/

Re: Remote frontend can't access backend MySQL

Try adding this file.
wes@mythfe0:~$ cat /etc/mysql/conf.d/xmythtv.cnf
[mysqld]
bind-address = 0.0.0.0
wes@mythfe0:~$
I assume the backend server is 192.168.0.something and you have entered the correct password in the frontend setup.

Re: Hauppauge HVR-1900 unable to switch to composite interfa

This might help, although I don't know where you are going to find any DVB-T sources in the US. And there aren't many analog either afaik except for a few low output stations.

Re: MythTV Update Available

Probably because the title is the same as the tv show and the metdata lookup finds it as a match. Metadata for the TV show Bachelor in Paradise brings up the data for the old Bob Hop movie of the same name. :)

Re: Slow program guide

I get that same pause when watching recordings when the time hits the hour or half hour and other shows are set to record/stop. That never happened until I upgraded from 0.23 to 0.27. Not a big deal, just a little annoying. I don't watch live tv, ever.
