Re: Remote Recommendations

If you want a keyboard, just get a wireless keyboard. I've never seen a remote with a built in keyboard. It would have to huge. If you're talking about an on screen keyboard that works with a remote, mythtv has had that for years and works with any remote.

Re: MythFrontend hangs after restart, ok after recovery

I've had it hang a few times over the last 10 years, but nothing that can be reproduced consistently. I'd wager it's something specific to your system. A look at the logs may help someone figure it out.

Re: Need suggestions on hardware for system

I don't know how much network bandwidth those enet tuners take up, but it could be a problem if you have heavy network traffic. My tuners are PCIe based and there's no problem with all 6 of them active. These are the ones I use.

Re: Need suggestions on hardware for system

Simple answer, yes. You need a box at all locations. The main will be a backend and frontend server with the tuners in it or connected to it, connected to the antenna. The other locations will be frontend only boxes connected to the main server via a network. I use Mythbuntu on all boxes now, althou...

Re: Unable to find channels...

wes@mythfe0:~$ ls /lib/firmware/dvb-fe*
/lib/firmware/dvb-fe-xc5000-1.6.114.fw
wes@mythfe0:~$
Nothing to do other than put it in the /lib/firmware directory.

Did you install the dvb-fe-xc5000-1.6.114.fw firmware for the card?

Re: New Build - card recomend

I've got 3 of these I've been using for years. Work great, but I haven't seen any for sale in the us for a while. I bought 2 at first and the third was a Korean model with Korean manual. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Latest-Silicon-Tuner-x-2_215905293.html http://item2.gmarket.co.kr/English/...

Re: Strange tuner issue

So they work fine at your house but not the other. What's the difference? The signal source, which comes from the antenna. While I had some issues with the 1250's, they were many times better than the original first gen atsc tuners I had, but with a good antenna system even the first gen tuners work...

Re: Strange tuner issue

The cm2016 is a directional antenna rated for 45 miles and highly sensitive to direction. The cm4228hd is multi-directional rated for 80 miles and not near as sensitive to direction. It also picks up high vfh pretty good too. http://www.channelmasterstore.com/Digital_HDTV_Outdoor_TV_Antenna_p/cm-201...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Clearly the tuner in the tv is better than the 1250's, however, a lot may depend on the antenna also. I'm assuming this is ota atsc. The antenna you use can have a great impact on reception. I've found none better than the Channlemaster cm4228hd 8 bay antenna for both range and a wide path of recept...

Re: Strange tuner issue

You can't have the same cable plugged into all 3 locations at once. the only way to test would be to unplug the cable to your TV and plug it into the tuner in the pc. The 1250's use really old technology. I'll bet your TV tuner is a much newer tuner. I had problems with the 1250's I had also years b...

Re: Backend Suggestion - FreeNAS, Diskless Intel NUC or old

Recording ota atsc takes very little cpu power. All it does is record the stream. It's playback and flagging that eats up cpu power. You probably need to be more concerned with your network since you're using network tuners. I've got 6 tuners in my system and even recording 6 shows at once isn't a p...
