Re: Recent Backend Build?

Unless you're going to put a lot of extra crap on the os partition, 20gb would be plenty. This might give you an idea of how little it takes. And this is with lots of extras in the root filesystem. es@mythfe0:~$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 6.8G 0 6.8G 0% /dev tmpfs 1.4G 1.6...

Re: Some "media keys" not recognized in key mapping?

Likely not defined in your distro KB layout. In buntu's for instance, iirc the default KB layout is generic 105, which doesn't recognize multimedia keys. In buntu's it's Settings> Keyboard>Layout to set KB model.

Re: Important upcoming v31 Changes, you may have work to do!

Reporting a problem. When I let mythfilldatabase run automatically on schedule, it fails. mythconverg shows: mythfilldatabaseLastRunStatus FAILED: XMLTV grabber returned error code 1. When I run mythfilldatabase from mythwelcome, it works. I suspect it's a user problem. I log in as my own user, and...

Re: Good remotes?

The 6 pin header is a JP1 interface. Using it you can program anything you want to a jp1 capable remote. I use my own custom programming this way, using remotemaster and jp1 cable

Re: Muting audio

Generally, the keyboard only works on the active app running, so switch the active app to the mythtv screen and try it there.

Re: Updated to 18.04 LTS, lirc was a PITA

That's why I removed lirc a few years back and have been using the kernel built in support for ir devices ever since, ir-keytable. Advantages; It's built into the kernel. It works with all apps, because it works like a keyboard. No more lircrc for every app. There's also using one of many mini keybo...

Re: Aspect wrong, whose fault? (channel? epg? myth?)

IFAIK, it gets it from the station. You can setup the tv to whatever it supports, and you can also setup myththv to what ever you want. However it is displayed depends on both the TV setting and mythtv setting. Choose whatever you want.

Re: how to "rescan" on MythTV

With normal tuners, run mythtv-setup, Channel editor, delete affected or all channels and scan again. There may be more things you have to do with hdhr or other standalone devices.

Re: Considering Setting Up MythTV on Linux

I got rid of all my DVR's back in 2005 and all I've used since then is mythtv with 6 tuners (3 dual) in my combo front/backend and 4 other frontend only boxes. 1. Forget hdhr's. get a 4 tuner card for under $100. For control you can use mini keyboards, ir remotes or whatever else that will work like...

Re: Is recording as .mpg possible?

They are the same files. The only thing that changed was the file extender name from .mpg to .ts. They are still mpeg2 files. Perhaps you are using a different config to display themthan you were with the earlier version.

Re: X Crashes Leaving Live TV

Try setting the display to 1366x768. That's what it took for it to work right on my old Samsung 46". I've since replaced the tv with a 4k.
