Re: Relationship between videosource and capture cards ?

Appears to me you need to use the same input to all hdhr's. That means tying your uhf and vhf together with a combiner (diplexer) and splitting the output to all your hdhrs.. Then every tuner could get every channel. Once done, just manually add the channels for sd instead of doing it by zip code or...

Re: Watch Recordings Page, background changing

Not really. I just think my way would be better as it would work with updates and/or theme changes if he does it. Of course he could do both as long as he realizes deleting the fanart is only for that theme and just until it gets an update or he changes themes. To do it properly he should go into th...

Re: Usefulness of database backup

It's not really very useful to me as the DB gets backed up with my weekly system backup, and even then there are errors with the recordings listings if you've recorded or deleted any since the backup, which is always in my case. But the useful part is all the recording rules and other configs are th...

Re: Backend help

That depends on what distro you are using. And if you just install the backend software alone it won't work since it also has to have a database to work. Open your package manager and search for mythtv. Here's what synaptic say about the "mythtv-backend" package. MythTV provides a unified graphical ...

Re: Watch Recordings Page, background changing

But that just works until the next update of the theme or he switches themes, since I'm pretty sure all the themes display fanart. He needs to uncheck it in the default recording rule for future recordings. If he had configured this right in the first place, it wouldn't be a problem. Actually it isn...

Re: Watch Recordings Page, background changing

Never heard of that. if one wants to disable metadata lookup altogether, Uncheck it in the backend-setup.

Re: Watch Recordings Page, background changing

The default recording template rule is set to allow automatic metadata lookup. Uncheck it and new recordings won't look it up. Of course it's already set in all the rules you have set now, so you'll need to either delete them and reset them, or edit each one of them to do away with it. This will not...

Re: Backend help

You should be able to find anything you need to know about installing and using Mythtv at this link. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Main_Page Many linux distros have mythtv in the repos that will install all the components you need to get a working system. I don't know much about Kodi as I've never use...

I ran into this a while back, and simply commenedt out the if user check since cron jobs are always run as root. #!/bin/sh # /etc/cron.weekly/mythtv-database script - check and backup mythconverg tables # Copyright 2005/12/02 2006/10/08 Paul Andreassen # 2010 Mario Limonciello set -e -u DBNAME="myth...

Thanks wesnewell but in Edit keys there is no response to the button, so I cannot set it.
Use your keyboard to get to what you want, then when it ask for a keypress use the remote. If it doesn't see it, then you have something wrong with the remote/config.

Re: some remote button presses missing

Check your mythtv key bindings in setup or mythweb to make sure you have esc set to what you want. And make sure you are looking at the proper host in mythweb. http://localhost/mythweb/settings/mythtv/keys Another test would be to start any app that you can exit with the esc key of the kb and then t...

Re: autoexpire list?

OK, that works by changing group filter from all programs to all programs (deleted). I've never had to do that before. In the wiki, unless I'm missing it, it doesn't mention you have to be in the all programs (deleted) group filter. And that option isn't even available unless there's a recording wit...

V30 Make a recording. Doesn't matter if it's scheduled, using R on live tv or just a live tv recording that has expired yet. Delete the file via CL or file manager, or even a system reinstall from backup (with recordings dir on another drive). Delete recording from watch recordings. Doesn't matter i...

Re: autoexpire list?

Just type d for starters, I don't have any to test with. If that fails, undelete as you did before, then see: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Frequently_Asked_Questions#How_do_I_remove_recordings_that_no_longer_exist_on_disk.3F The rational there explains that MythTV preserves the metadata in case the ...
