Re: How to record program that has already started

How about doing it while watching live tv instead of using the guide? Start live TV, switch to the channel, and hit record on the remote or R on the keyboard.

Mythrecmaze -- Record the TV shows you follow on TVmaze.com

Mythrecmaze -- Automatically record the TV shows you follow on TVmaze.com using MythTV http://github.com/heyted/mythrecmaze Instead of setting a recording using MythTV, follow your shows on tvmaze.com to have them recorded. The program checks the TVmaze ical feed for the next seven days. It then dow...

Re: Using an XMLTV file from Zap2It with MythTV

Using zap2xml to obtain guide data from Zap2It appears to violate Zap2It's terms of service.

This sounds similar to viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1114&p=5444#p5444 . Have you seen that thread?

Re: Controlling Cable Box

Have you verified the CCI flag for the channels you subscribe to are not set to copy freely? In a few Cox service areas, the CCI flag is copy freely for the non-premium channels.

Re: Channel rescan – still as painful today as 5 years ago?

If for some reason Schedules Direct cannot be used, a method is described below that I have used with my Hauppauge 2650 (same as HDHomeRun Prime) and encrypted QAM channels. I think this will also work with clearQAM and other external Hauppauge and HDHomerun tuners that have internal web servers. Th...

Introducing Mythbmote -- On-screen remote in a browser

MythTV Browser Remote Most MythTV users will not be interested in this program, but if you often watch live TV while using a laptop, smart phone or tablet to view a TV guide web site, you may be interested in it. The main purpose of this small unofficial program is to simply show a web page which lo...

Re: LG Smart TV sleeping problem

Just as something to try, you may be able to turn off HDMI-CEC on the tv. I think HDMI-CEC is called SimpLink on LG tvs.

By saying you have disabled screen blanking, does that mean you have gone into Mythbuntu settings and disabled the screen saver?

Re: MythTV where next,..

I suspect that this differs wildly across service areas... In my Comcast area, most of the channels are flagged as Copy Once which would prevent MythTV from recording them. A quick Google search indicates the same issue affecting many others around the country... Time Warner seems to be the most pr...

Re: MythTV where next,..

While MythTV does many things well, ironically it's television PVR capabilities are not one of them... It's hardly the best PC based PVR solution out there. It is the best solution for me and many others. It is very reliable and produces high quality HD recordings using Comcast encrypted channels a...

Re: What Card Or Box To Buy?

It is best to ask your cable tv provider if or how long clear QAM will be used. I imagine if you connect a modern high definition tv with no cable box, cablecard, adapter, or any other hardware and if you get the channels you want in high definition, then they are clear QAM. Standard definition coul...

Re: What Card Or Box To Buy?

The WinTV-HVR-955Q will not work with most cable tv channels. With Comcast in South Florida, it will not work with any channels since Comcast has encrypted all channels (no Clear QAM channels). Generally with cable tv in the USA, a cablecard tuner is needed. https://www.fcc.gov/guides/digital-cable-...

Re: dish OTA DVR receiver

gonfishin, One option you may want to consider is to keep the case and hard drive, and replace the motherboard. I did this with a TiVo described at the site linked below. The remote could possibly be reused also. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=9890288#post9890288 tivo1.jpg tiv...
