Re: Unable to get cable channels.

The HDHomeRun Connect can only tune clear QAM channels. Did the cable provider encrypt the channels after they worked and before you tried again? MythTV works with encrypted QAM if the channels are not copy restricted, but you generally would need a cablecard tuner. While using an internet browser o...

Re: Does your mythbackend have libx264 support compiled-in?

If you have a minute, can you run "mythbackend --version" on your MythTV server, and paste the contents here? MythTV Version : v30.0 MythTV Branch : Network Protocol : 91 Library API : 30.20181231-1 QT Version : 5.9.5 Options compiled in: linux profile use_hidesyms using_alsa using_oss using_pulse ...

Re: Comcasts - DRM or no

Comcast generally only has DRM on the premium channels like HBO. This is the case in my area. I have FOX and the FOX news channels. All channels are not clear QAM, so a cablecard tuner is needed. Good luck. If you are in the USA, why is your flag set to Antigua?

Re: Good remotes?

I don't see on Inteset's site that the IReTV receiver has generic RC6 and NEC compatibility like some other Inteset receivers do. That concerns me. Seems like it must. Maybe it does, and it just is not included in the description?

Re: Good remotes?

I'm currently using a TiVo remote. All buttons work well, and it is intuitive.

Re: Where did the keybindings for Mythvideo go in 30?

Please try going to Setup --> Edit Keys --> TV Playback. Delete 'B' under NextPIPWiondow, and add 'B' under SetBookmark, or use an unused key for SetBookmark. This will work for TV playback and videos.

Sounds very interesting. A MythTV frontend that can run on Windows would be appreciated by many people.

Do you need CEC on the TV? If not, maybe turning CEC off if you have the option of turning it off on the TV will help.

Re: Updated to 18.04 LTS, lirc was a PITA

Perhaps somewhere there is a video accelerated app just for netflix or youtube that runs on Ubuntu?
I haven't tried this plugin for Kodi in a long time, but maybe https://kodi.tv/addon/plugins-video-add-ons/youtube would be better.

Re: netflix integration

It completely ignores "exit" from the remote control. If there is a keyboard and mouse plugged in those can control the (dreadful) netflix full screen interface. Unfortunately since it is in kiosk mode there is no way to get out of that browser except through a separate ssh session and a command li...

Re: Not finding my mainmenu.xml?

I think the menu system was set to work this way mainly to not respond to LIRC button presses until the program started by exec finishes. Does whatever you are trying to launch have to be started using a menu button? Can it be a system event instead such as keystroke event or "live tv started"? If s...

Re: Considering Setting Up MythTV on Linux

Any way you can give me an idea of how difficult? For instance, to get it set up so it scans the airwaves and gives me a list of channels it can get, connect to a programming guide source, and being able to pick the shows I want to record, will it take minutes, hours, or days? I'm not going to hold...

Re: Considering Setting Up MythTV on Linux

1. I think I basically need a computer I can run Linux on, 4 tuners or a 4 tuner device (I think I've seen some out there), and the usual computer attachments (like mouse, keyboard, monitor...) to set up a MythTV backend. Do I need anything else? 2. Once I get a Linux system installed on a box, how...
