Re: Enhancement request

Live TV? What's that?

Yes, TV remotes these days usually have a dot, dash, # or somesuch button that enters a separator. I've also seen some TVs that try to be smart, such that if you enter "32" and there is no channel "32" programmed it will assume you meant "3.2".

Re: Enhancement request

1. Headings: That worked, thanks. I ended up having to copy/paste from that page, rather than download the plaintext version, since that asked for a login. They couldn't just make it easy. 2. IIRC, at one point Myth's channel scanner used to assign names like "5_3", but now it does "5.3". The ones w...

Re: Enhancement request

Hi Phil, I ran your script and have some suggestions: In the tables, such as "list channels by Call sign", the headings don't line up with the data. For OTA, the fields atsc_major_chan and atsc_minor_chan should be included, IMHO. These are very important to understanding which channel you're lookin...

Re: Enhancement request

I'm definitely interested, too. I have two data sources, one of which is Dish. I'd love to try it out. You can send me a private message, if you like.

Re: OSX Server

From what I've heard, OS X Server is really the same as the Desktop version, with just a few extra configuration utilities and daemons. There's no reason it would work any differently as far as Myth is concerned.

Re: Automatic commercial flagging won't run

Check your job queue to be sure there aren't any "stuck" jobs. I've had this happen in the past, and it blocks new jobs from starting.

Re: Automatic commercial flagging won't run

Run mythtv-setup and check in the General settings. There is a master override for commercial flagging jobs. Also, make sure the range of times at which jobs can run is sensible.

Re: New Upnp Channel Changing Script

Video must be captured using a device like HD-PVR. There is no provision in the Dish hardware for it to be transmitted over the Ethernet cable used by uPnP. This program is just for telling the box what channel to tune to without having to use an IR blaster. You can't really do a direct "press any k...

Re: Unable to compile the latest fixes 0.27.5, please help.

Very often, link failures can be cleared-up with "make clean" or "make distclean". If you just do a "git pull" and "make" that leaves behind object files from the last time you compiled, and they might be trying to refer to code that either no longer exists or has changed since you last compiled.

Re: mythfilldatabase can't reach schedules direct

I, and others, have had similar problems with the DNS lookup failing. It seems to work on the second try within a few minutes. In my case, I set Myth to use a wrapper script instead of the "real" mythfilldatabase:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
ping -c 3 dd.schedulesdirect.org
/usr/local/bin/mythfilldatabase $*

Re: FetchChanelsFromSource, GetDDLineupList

I believe "DD Lineup" refers to the Data Direct service, which was a source of scheduling data in the US. You might change this to Schedules Direct where appropriate.

Re: Different themes for different users

Downloaded themes are stored in the individual's ~/.mythtv directory, so they are different for each user. You need to download another copy for the second user. But you should be aware that the setting for which theme to use is stored in the database, and is per host, not per user. So you can't rea...

Re: daily show recording repeatedly stops with no log (debug

This sounds like some sort of scheduled shutdown, outside of Myth. You might check to see if there is a message in your syslog, or elsewhere in /var/log (try `ls -lt` to see what log was most recently written to.) And please don't file a bug report until you have narrowed the problem down to Myth an...

Re: Myth_Filldatabase not connecting with SchedulesDirect

I think you're likely to be running into the same problem I've had: The first attempt fails, but attempts a little while later work. The suspicion is that this has something to do with the ISP's DNS caching, but I don't know if I agree. Anyway, there's a simple workaround involving creating a mfd wr...

Re: HDMI (w/ hdcp ) capture device

Based on the config pages, it seems to be using only 2-channel, matrixed audio. So the best you can get out of it is 5.1 compressed channels. This is a non-starter for me.
