Re: Frontend occasional problem

I think I will wait until it appears in the Mint repo. It probably means a clean install. What with all the reconfiguration of applications, I'll need a couple of days for both machines.

Hopefully COVID-19 will be history by then.

All the best. stay safe

[SOLVED]Frontend occasional problem

I am currently watching live TV on the version 29.0 frontend on my remote work computer. The host is running Mint 19.1 and the 4-core AMD processor is supported by 8GB of DRAM. At the moment, apart from Firefox, on which I am keying this in, the only user program running is the Mythtv frontend. I wi...

Re: Cannot select channels from remote front end

Today, although no settings were changed but the backend machine was powered down. It was completely disconnected along with the sound system. All leads connections were thoroughly cleaned before being reconnected. On rebooting it all started working properly as did the remote frontend too. I cannot...

Re: Cannot select channels from remote front end

Sorry, I should have written: MythTV version 29.1 Operating system Mint 19.1 is on the machine with both Backend and Frontend. The remote frontend is running Mint 19.3. The only item requiring change was Security PIN from 'blank' to 0000. I rebooted both machines. There was no change. Thank you for ...

Cannot select channels from remote front end

The front-end on the same system as the backend behaves properly. But a remote front end appears to be operating properly in every respect excerpt one. I cannot change channels in any way, neither by the programme selector, the up/down navigation keys not entering an alternative channel number. I wo...

[SOLVED]: Frontend cannot connect to database

While checking the Official website, I examined the example config.xml.

One of my two copies of config.xml, one in ~/.mythtv and the other in /etc/mythtv did not match.
A careful edit and restart of the backend, followed by the remote front end and I had a live TV picture.

[Solved} Frontend cannot connect to database

This is so embarrassing! I had to reinstall a Mint 19.1 system whose data entry fields in every application, just scrolled the contents of previous entries endlessly. I was content to lose the previous recordings if only to restore the system and mythtv. It did not go well with several errors report...

Audio level control on remote Frontend

I am running MTV 29.1 I can control the volume from the frontend situated on the backend server from a tiny wireless keyboard. However, from a remote frontend I cannot control the volume from its standard wired keyboard. The sound setting from Pulseaudio is: Analogue Surround 2.1 Output + Analogue S...

recordings jump back

I am using Mythtv version 29.1. From time to time when a recording is being replayed it will jump back. I can move it forward again with <number><right arrow> but will just jump back again. Yesterday I ran optimize-mythdb.pl. It improved one episode I had been watching but failed on the second. I is...

Re: Mythtv 29.1 suddenly failed to record [SOLVED?]

The system was already 'on' this morning and the backend was off. I checked status, which confirmed that. I started the backend and then the status which indicated all was well. I started the front end and it behaved normally. I later started it from my (remote) work maxchine and it has been fine, s...

[Solved] Mythtv 29.1 suddenly failed to record

After running well for several weeks, the first symptom was failure to record. The status report suggested a backend setup problem. I re-ran the full backend setup, including a long-winded full scan. Following a reboot, live TV could be received. A day later it could not and recordings during the ev...

You were spot on.
Thank you.

I reckon I blindly changed the user:group of /home without considering all the consequences.

I've made notes to remind me.

[Solved] Working v29.1 suddenly ceases to record or get Live TV

I have been running Mythtv Version 29.1-13 for several weeks without issues. It was recording successfully two days ago but failed last night. On checking I found that I could not get live TV either. The logs suggested that permissons might be the problem but they were fine. dmesg confirmed that the...

Re: Backend status query

A couple of days ago my Mint 19.1 system had rebooted into a new kernel. That meant I had to compile new drivers for my TV card. As the backend seemed happy with the result, I assumed all was well, except for the status report referred to above. This morning I found that recordings that had been sch...
