Trying to track faults

There are two visible symptoms. The system will be left working but periodically, the tuners seem to become detached from mythtv (blank screen after selecting live TV); and The mouse cursor movements have become small, requiring lots of movements to the mouse. A reboot brings it back again ... for a...

[SOLVED] MySQL problem

The entry in Settings in mythconverg for BackendServerIP was incorrect and mythtv-setup refused to let me edit the IPv4 field.
So I deleted it with the intention of replacing it but I cannot get the syntax right.
Help!

Erratic backend

I'm using MythTV version 0.27. Since upgrading to Mageia Linux 5 from version 4, the backend's behaviour has changed as I will explain. It is perhaps worth mentioning that I am employing a TBS Technologies PCIe TBS 6280 dual-tuner card. This requires the latest driver source to be recompiled wheneve...

[SOLVED] Re: Recordng set from remote frontend fails

This turned out to be the TV PCIe card not seating correctly in the box.
It appears to have been 'on the edge' and warming up shoved it over.
Thank you for your patience. :)

Re: Recordng set from remote frontend fails

The model is a TBS-6280.

Funny that it was fine for nearly three years until I did a clean install of Mageia 5.

Anyway, until this problem is resolved, I have turned off MythTV and turned on kaffeine, which sadly cannot handle T2 (HD) reception.
I'll see how long it holds on to the tuners.

Re: Recordng set from remote frontend fails

Following your advice I ran a series of tests. My backend uses one dual-channel tuner card. Both channels have been tested by arranging two recordings at the same time. Next, I set the system to record from the remote frontend before powering that machiner down. The next morning 'Watch recordings' s...

Recordng set from remote frontend fails

The system hosting the backend server also has a frontend. It works perfectly.

A remote frontend can play recorded material/watch live TV etc.

But, if I set a program to record, mythtv later reports it as 0GB and no mpg file is created.

User and password in both systems are mythtv.

Re: [SOLVED] Frontend cannot link to backend

I cannot recall a problem with updates (of this nature). It wasn't the updates it was the full uograde that caused my problems. I only have two partitions / and /home. The root partition is always reformatted when a new distro version is in installed. That was why I put the MySQL database at /home/m...

Re: Frontend cannot link to backend

You are right! I twigged that the pronblem was MySqL access and just added the line giving it to all membes of the LAN and changed the bind-address to the server's address. The last line in my.cnf is indeed !includedir /etc/mysql/conf.d/ but I don't think adding a line there would be any different t...

Re: Frontend cannot link to backend

Disabling "Listen on Link-Local addresses' did the trick. However there is still an error message in the backend log. Here is a snip: 2016-03-18 14:21:11.121239 I [3914/3914] CoreContext housekeeper.cpp:655 (Start) - Starting HouseKeeper. 2016-03-18 14:21:11.122438 I [3914/3914] CoreContext serverpo...

[SOLVED] Frontend cannot link to backend

This is a fresh installation under Mageia 5 following an upgrade from Mageia 4. Before installing MySQL (MariaDb) I had modified /etc/my.cnf so that datadir = /home/mysql. With the backend running, when I start the frontend it reports that cannot connect to the backend. Both frontend and backend are...
