Re: Encrypted Channels

There are a significant number of encrypted channels carried on the Freesat/Sky satellites, that's why you need the sky box with viewing card to watch them. You should receive the channels which are part of the freesat lineup. Some of the newer tuners / drivers don't seem to report the SNR. Regards ...

Re: HDHomeRun HD channel and connect issues

Yes we've added support for tuners like the 292e which don't auto switch between DVB-T and DVB-T2. That will be in 0.28 when it's released

Did you use the packages for ubuntu or did you download and compile from source?
Where did you get the packages / source from?

Re: pctv 292e tripplestick no HD channels in mythtv

It's already merged to master, backporting to 0.27 was giving me trouble the last time i tried. Need to find another slot to work on this

Re: Does Geniatech T230 work and MythTV

Sounds like the Geniatech T230 is basically the same as the PCTV 292e. So you need the support for non-autoswitching tuners which is on the list of things to merge to 0.27

Re: WD Red 1TB as OS drive?

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. The linux kernel will also retry the io, so don't forsee an issue here due to the drive reporting the error back.

Re: WD Red 1TB as OS drive?

The Red's are good because they are 24/7 rated. Avoid the green's at all cost. I have a 3Tb one for recordings.

Re: ITV 4 Frequency Change

Yes there will be duplicate channels for a while. They maintain all the serviceid etc data for the old channel, and renumber it to a high number for a while (several weeks iirc) and then remove the old channel. This allows them to plaster the "please rescan" message all over the channel

Re: is 2 nics possible?

Should work. Just ensure you setup the backend to listen on the nic that will contain the frontends. The only bit i'm unsure about is how the discovery of those devices will work.

The NUC makes a lovely frontend, I use mine natively as a frontend, ie. not via MM2

Re: Backend suggestions

If you have a motherboard only supporting PCI, then I suggest you look at USB or network based tuners instead. Most of the PCI-e based cards are really a PCI-e to USB bridge, with the usb tuners on the other side.
