Re: Backend on Pi 4

Just in case, there are issues with some USB3 SATA converters which adversely affect disk performance on Pi4. See https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=245931&hilit=uas I have assumed that rootfs is running on the SSD not the microSD card. That SSD should be fine, as would almost a...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

Jim, Thanks for the atsc file, all 5.8GB! I changed my /boot/config.txt to have (gives 1920x1080 @60Hz) hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16 On my Pi4 playback is jerky, and from running ./run_mythfrontend --logpath /tmp -v gpu, playback --loglevel debug I noticed that frames are being dropped with Deint: 2x GL...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

Jim, I can't see anything obvious in the log, probably needs extra logging. The ./run_mythfrontend.sh script allows for this, by adding the all required logging at end of the line e.g. ./run_mythfrontend.sh --logpath /tmp -v gpu, playback --loglevel debug Yes, it would be useful for an atsc file, I c...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

Jim, With my testing on Pi2/3 and 4 over hdmi, I have not used the .asoundrc file, Raspbian Buster seems to have the IEC958 device mentioned in the wiki, so file .asoundrc is not required. I just use the default audio presented using the Setup Wizard (ALSA:default:CARD=ALSA). pi@pi4-20200317:~ $ apl...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

That FPS bounce seems high to me, I do have a small amount of FPS bounce but it is around +/- 0.04 at a nominal 25 FPS. Just a thought, are you using default audio setting (ALSA:default:CARD=ALSA) or something else. Probably need a mythfrontend log to see what is happening during playback, but my kn...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

"it looks like the frames per second is suddenly 10-15 fps." Is it really 10-15 fps ? If so there is something really wrong, I suspect some setting in mythfrontend. If you run LiveTV on a suitable channel, what does the screen show if you press "m" key, then Playback, then Playback Data The fields o...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

mythfrontend from master or fixes/31 will run under Desktop (X) but for me, I get the same issues as with V30, i.e. picture breakup during with fast panning shots and judder with rolling news straplines. Being in the UK I have DVB-T/T2/S/S2, so a mixture of mpeg2 and H.264. These problems disappear ...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

Now for running mythfrontend. Depending on the TV connected to the Raspberry Pi, it is possible that mythfrontend invoked by QT_QPA_PLATFORM=eglfs mythfrontend may use a resolution and refresh rate which is not the best for playback and LiveTV. This is due to qt under eglfs deciding on the resoluti...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

For mythfrontend/backend, ignoring mythplugins for now: ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-vdpau --enable-opengl --disable-vaapi --cpu=cortex-a7 --arch=armv7 --extra-cflags=-mfpu=neon --extra-cxxflags=-mfpu=neon Mike for the Raspberry PI 4 would the "--arch=armv7" be changed to "armv7l" and "--cpu...

Re: Master from source on Raspberry 4 4GB

Current master and fixes/31 require a modified ./configure line as mythfrontend is now run from console using QT_QPA_PLATFORM=eglfs mythfrontend, but see later in this post. For mythfrontend/backend, ignoring mythplugins for now: ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-vdpau --enable-opengl --disable-va...

Re: .30 Frontend see tuners but Scheduler doesn't one recording only

"....but the live recording has no program title" This is symptomatic of no Guide Data, so the Scheduler will ignore that input, but it is still possible to manually select such a channel. So in addition to the database tables mentioned in the previous post, data from the videosource table would hel...

Re: Trying to migrate from Media Center to Ubuntu MythTV

For hdhomeruns the configuration method changed starting from mythtv 30, it looks like various parts of the mythtv wiki have yet to be updated.

There is a new guide see https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Channel_Sca ... Run_tuners

Re: Trying to migrate from Media Center to Ubuntu MythTV

For the operating system, a Long Term Release e.g. Xubuntu 18.04 LTS is recommended. The use of something like Xubuntu 19.10, which only has a 9 month support life time, is not recommended, as it will need to be upgraded after the 9 month period. As far as Xubuntu 20.04 is concerned, there will be a...

Re: Remote frontend won't connect to DB

The defaults assume a combined mythtv frontend/backend configuration with no remote mythtv frontends. You have already told mysql to use bind address 0.0.0.0 which is needed. There are some settings in mythbackend that also need to be setup to allow a remote mythtv frontend to connect. On the mythba...
