Re: Ubuntu 18.10

I recommend remove all mythtv packages and then install mythtv. You can get a list of the packages you have installed with "dpkg --list | grep myth". This will list your mythtv packages. Note it also lists mythes and libmythes which are not mythtv. Remove all the packages listed except for the mythe...

Re: Raspbian OS updated to Buster

Let me know how it goes.

Regarding MPEG2, that already works with software decoding on Pi3 and even on Pi2, if you don't have a license. So that should work fine.

I don't know about the new graphics and OpenGL - there may be opportunities to improve the rpi support there.

Re: Raspbian OS updated to Buster

Hmmm - good ideas always translate into hard work :(

I guess I need to look into Buster. I have no raspberry pi 4 so it will have to be built on rpi 3 for now.

Re: Android app on F-Droid

I see that f-droid builds apps from source. This makes things complicated because our build is not easy and is not the typical android build. This is not something I would like to attempt. Is there any other similar site that accepts ready-build apk files?

Re: New Install 0.30 Can wake database

Unfortunately the core MythTV team only officially releases source code. The packaging is done by people on the Ubuntu team, and they themselves are no longer using MythTV so that the motivation to keep it up to date may not be there.

Re: Android build on Fire TV - opengl produces white screen

There is a pre-build android package. See information on the wiki https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Android . I have tested the 32 bit package on the fire stick. Did you select an appropriate playback profile? The mediacodec profile should be able to play h264 without stuttering. As far as I know it plays...

Re: No more mysql backups?

The "disable backups" in setup is only to disable backups during upgrades, so that is not relevant to your problem. There is no automatic backup mechanism in MythTV. The Ubuntu MythTV package installs a cron job to do a weekly backup. The package creates a file /etc/cron.weekly/mythtv-database to do...

Re: Pi Zero W

I think it only has 512MB memory. The regular raspberry pi with 1G memory is already pushing the memory limit and I think 512MB will not be enough. Also the wifi may not be fast enough for playback of HD programs. 802.11 ac is fine but less than that may not be fast enough.

Re: Overnight Hangs - How do you log to the backend server?

I recommend checking the power supply. The raspberry pi takes a lot of power and the normal USB charger may not be sufficient. When the voltage drops a rainbow pattern also displays on the screen, if you see that it also indicates you may need a better power supply. If the raspberry pi is locking up...

Re: MythTV-light not changing display mode for recordings/video

It should be enabled by default, but you can check it by pressing right arrow on the entry in the playback profile to get the details and check the deinterlacer. Note that on older versions of raspbian the deinterlace will not work (raspbian versions before 2016-05-27).

Re: White flicker on every key press in menu navigation with .30

I suppose it is a known issue. I have seen it but not done anything about it. It did not seem important. If you feel it is important you can create a ticket.
