Re: White Box covers most of Screen

Does this happen without plugins installed? If not, can you identify which plugin is causing it?

Re: Service to get SHUTDOWN_COUNTDOWN?

You can easily check if the frontend is idle by using the network control port. Enable network control in the frontend setup. Send a message to port 6546 "query location" and if it returns "standbymode" it is in standby mode. For example: if pidof mythfrontend ; then fstate=`( sleep 1 ; echo query l...

Re: mythtv 30 & ceton infiniTV 6

v30 was released in January 2019. It is no longer in active development unless specific bugs are found. So - waiting will not likely make v30 more stable. If there are specific problems causing instability, please let the developers know so that they can be fixed. v31 will be released soon, but I do...

Re: devel/2019-render branch on Pi

The latest v31 uses AVSYNC2. The old AVSYNC has been removed. AVSYNC2 uses its own timing method base on the real time clock, so the selection of timing method will have no effect. The code to select a video sync method still exists but the selected sync method is not used.

Re: mythpreviewgen fails on MKV files with H264 video

IIRC, that error always comes out of mythcommflag, even when it is working. End of file is not really an error.

Re: mythpreviewgen fails on MKV files with H264 video

Seektables for mkv files do not work. Running mythcommflag --rebuild effectively deletes the seektable. A faster way to delete the seektable is mythutil --clearseektable --chanid "$chanid" --starttime "$starttime" I have been transcoding recordings to h264 for years using HandBrakeCLI. The only mthp...

Re: Cannot play files from existing backend: Failed to open socket, error was malformed_ann_query

I think the most likely reason is an invalid system name for your raspberry pi, in particular a system name with spaces in it. On the frontend machine (raspberry pi) Look at /etc/hostname and make sure it has a single word and no spaces. If that is correct, look at $HOME/.mythtv/config.xml and look ...

Re: Cannot play files from existing backend: Failed to open socket, error was malformed_ann_query

mythtv light will show something like this on raspberry pi (see below). Your display does not include the full version or the branch. Perhaps you do not have mythtv-light or it was built in the wrong way. Run dpkg --list to see what packages were installed. Perhaps you installed a mythfrontend from ...

Re: Prevent Auto shutdown Whilst streaming

I recently added an API call to mythbackend master, that will delay shutdown 5 minutes. It is used by the "leanfront" android frontend, which calls it every 4 minutes to prevent shutdown. If you are writing a frontend application you can use that, or you can call it from a script every 4 minutes. Th...

Re: Mytharchive local callsign not accepted

Generally with latest versions we recommend importing videos into the Videos part of MythTV rather than as recordings. You can just add them to the videos storage group and rescan.

Perhaps your channels have lost the xmltvids after the rescan. You may have to add the xmltvid to each channel again..

Re: mythtv light, RP4, and 4K resolution problem

MythTV should run fine at 4K resolution. Have you tried it? Does it cause problems? V30 setup has been updated to allow selection of screen size up to 4K. V29 will work on 4K TV if the setup is set to fuil-screen.
