Re: Mythbackend continuously restarting

This afternoon I was looking at syslog and it seemed "clean", there was no stop/start behavior, etc. So I decided to stop, then start the backend using systemctl and watch "top". I get the usual cycle of start/stop of the backend. I see briefly two instances of mythbackend in top, one owned by "user...

Re: Mythbackend continuously restarting

nuc2 is exclusively the backend, no frontend. The frontend is on a different system, a Raspberry Pi 3, no backend. On nuc2, the curl command gives: === $ curl --header "Accept: application/json" localhost:6544/Myth/GetHostName {"String": "nuc2"} === On the frontend (rpi3) the command yields: === $ c...

Re: Mythbackend continuously restarting

mythbackend.log I'm not sure why wlan0 shows up, I have disabled wifi completely, the backend is connected via ethernet only. It would be really difficult, I think, to try logging into mysql when the connection is out, because it happens so briefly. The log you'd like is posted below. Note that it ...

Re: Mythbackend continuously restarting

The system stops spewing stop/start messages into the syslog after a while. Checking as you indicate, it seems only one backend is running. It appears that the start up of the backend is problematical somehow, multiple stop/starts are required before it is successful in getting running? Wonderful, j...

Re: HWE (Hardware enablement stack) on Mythbuntu 14.04

OK, after months of torment, erratic no sound (for example, last night I booted the system 3 times before on the third boot I finally had sound) I just got fed up and just to do SOMETHING completely reinstalled the system with 16.04.2 LTS and sound seems to be back to working. Never did figure out w...

Re: Creating a recording rule that records all shows in a se

I recently noticed looking around further that MythWeb's Recording Schedules has a "Custom" option that looks promising.

Thanks for the responses and ideas! I will look into these suggestions and see how they work on my problem series recordings.

Creating a recording rule that records all shows in a series

I've been using MythTV for quite a while. In the misty past it seemed fairly easy to create a recording rule that would recognize and record every show in a series (for example, all the episodes of Downton Abbey on each Sunday night.) Lately, it seems, this has gotten more difficult. All attempts at...

Re: two hdhomeruns causes video recording problems

I have two hdhomeruns, although only one is a hdhr4-US, the other is an older model (hdhr-US.) I saw no effect whatsoever on recording when I added the newer unit to my system, but I am very near to broadcast antennas and the splitter(s) I use have no real effect, maybe you have more marginal recept...

Re: HWE (Hardware enablement stack) on Mythbuntu 14.04

Waal natcherally, it was too easy and sound issues have cropped up and are biting my ass. Sound with my system, an HDMI cable carrying video and sound to a Sony soundbar, worked perfectly before the upgrades noted above. I don't understand what the problem is, exactly, sometimes sound works fine, ot...

HWE (Hardware enablement stack) on Mythbuntu 14.04

I have a system with separate front and backends, each which is a NUC. I've been seeing a message on the frontend, to the effect that the "hardware enablement stack" on the frontend's mythbuntu 14.04 system had reached end of life. (Apparently this is not a problem on the backend.) Reading up on thi...

Dashed lines around search results in MythWeb

My wife asked me this morning what the dashed vs. solid lines around some schedule search results mean. See attached screen shot You see dashed lines around the "Independent Lens" result, one other result, and all the individual Sun., Aug. 7 results. I searched for documentation on this point but fo...
