Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

I posted about this problem in the Silicon Dust (SD) Premium TV forum, and SD did something to fix it from their end.

Subsequently I recorded a test set of 4 simultaneous shows and the results were far better, only one show was marked damaged by MythTV.

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

I have been further testing my setup. I find I can record 4 simultaneous shows (all streamed from Silicon Dust.) On viewing the recordings look OK (uniformly 720p resolution at best), but after the end of the recording they are always marked with a yellow dot in the frontend listings, as well as mar...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

It's possible that one could do this in the mythtv-setup interface, but as mentioned above, I am seeing this in a forwarded X session, and some things seem missing. But I start with that and "add a capture card," declare it an external tuner and (the way I have it setup) declare the path to mythhdhr...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

So the final status: I defined 4 "external" tuners, and can readily look at the MythWeb guide and setup recordings. I have tested recording 2 different channels, and that works. I still have to figure out locking between OTA and Premium TV watching and recording.

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

So, I reported the above problem to Schedules Direct and they apparently fixed it. I don't know whether it was their fix or further fiddling with the XMLTV schedules fetch, but I finally got the schedule updates sorted. However recordings continued to fail. I found that the "channum" of these new ch...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

Thanks for the suggestion. BUT, mythtv-setup seems dodgy, "fetch channels" doesn't seem to work, maybe because i am having to look at it via a forwarded X-session. (The backend server is headless.) I finally got a little bit ahead by working between mythtv-setup and the command line. The attached sc...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

I also have tried to get mythhdhrrecorder working, and failed. In the GitHub docs at: https://github.com/garybuhrmaster/mythhdhrrecorder I do not understand how to go about the directive to "Fetch Channels" under "Setup in MythTV." Whatever I am doing now always gives no channels. Silicon Dust has u...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

I am continuing to fiddle with Silicon Dust's Premium TV on my HDHomerun tuner. One problem I ran into today is a program I had scheduled to be recorded with MythTV suffered a "Recorder failed" error. Looking at the backend log I see that apparently having the HDHR app open and running on an Amazon ...

Re: Mythweb broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04.1

Maybe that fix hasn't yet propagated to the Mythbuntu updates repository I use. I also see at the top of Recording Schedules: Warning at /usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/tv/classes/Schedule.php, line 106: !!NoTrans: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable!! But si...

Re: Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

On the subject of guide data I contacted Schedules Direct and asked about lineups for Silicon Dust's Premium TV. They responded as follows: "We have two lineups already created - USA-0000001-CUSTOM and USA-0000002-CUSTOM for East Coast and West Coast lineups on our JSON service." Looks like I am goi...

Re: Mythweb broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04.1

I did this upgrade and fixed my Mythweb problems by running:

sudo a2enmod php7.2

I then had to edit:

/usr/share/mythtv/mythweb/modules/tv/recorded.php

and put quotes around disk_size and disk_used at lines 188,189. Then I ran:

sudo systemctl restart apache2

Hope this helps.

Re: HDHomeRun Premium TV

I commented on this in the Troubleshooting section of this forum, and got some useful feedback and ideas. I agree this is fantastic, and I am eager to get something set up to view and record these new channels, however rough it is at first. I have signed up for this service and have managed to view ...

Premium TV with HDHomerun tuners

I got a solicitation from Silicon Dust (maker of HDHomerun tuners): Connect and Extend tuners now feature "Premium TV," a smorgasbord of "channels" (such as MSNBC, SyFy, AMC,...) for $35/month. With a tuner firmware update you can see demo versions of such channels, in the HDHomerun app on Android d...

Re: (Solved) Record conflict on 0.29 under Ubuntu 16.04

FOLLOWUP TO ABOVE: It bothered me that the "direct connection" first attempted above did not work. Silicon Dust is a very good tech company and their instructions are usually rock solid. I realized I had achieved a "169.254.x.y" address using the nm-connection-editor and choosing "link-local." I red...
