Re: MythVideo playback profiles

Yes - sorry - didn't check the commit id:(

Have finally spotted my error - somewhere along the line I confused baseline and constrained baseline, so have pushed a change that allows both if main is supported.

If that doesn't work, I'll find a hole to crawl in to:)

Re: MythVideo playback profiles

Could you just sanity check for me that there is not a newer package version? The build/date time looks a little close to the commit and I know the ubuntu package builder was broken for a few days at least (and was fixed yesterday).

Thanks and regards

Re: Diagnostic videos?

I've considered generating some test patterns/material etc before - but there are various sources already. Probably closest to your first request:- https://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-home-theater-computers/1157287-hd-1080i-test-pattern-determine-vector-adaptive-deinterlacing-others-icl-ticker.html Ot...

Re: MythVideo playback profiles

Sorry for the delay - finally pushed some logging updates. Again it will need 'mythfrontend -v playback --loglevel=debug' to get all of the details.

Re: Stuttering on VAAPI

My comment re openbox was in relation to video mode switching - where you said that you ended up with video in the top left of the screen; which just indicates to me that the window manager is not behaving as expected (there are a few window resize/hide/show events when the display mode is switched)...

Re: MythFrontend crashes after upgrade to v31

Well if your packaged version was compiled with libcec support - it will be expecting libcec to be installed and will likely crash without it. I do wonder however whether that might be a red herring. The logs do not show that the nvidia driver is being used for OpenGL (it is falling back to software...

Re: Ryzen 3 3200g, Ubuntu 18.04.4, no hardware acceleration

Strange stuff though with modes other than normal playback. If the image is paused or fast forward it looks like every other line is dropped and the remainder are placed in the top half of the screen. (Resulting in a shortened image.) The last line is then repeated all the way down for the lower ha...

Re: 4k Screen in my future

It occurs to me that I probably want something that will (eventually) support hardware AV1 decoding which might be ... the next Intel "lake" or other.l +1 On lost Dog, your response was/is very helpful! I think you may be waiting a while yet for hardware AV1 decoding - I don't see any reference to ...

Re: 4k Screen in my future

So the holy grail of full 4k HDR support and small form factor:) Some technical detail below but If you want to future proof yourself against future developments, I would recommend a newer NUC or Intel/AMD based mini-itx system. If you're feeling brave - maybe one of the Android TV boxes running li...

Re: building mythfrontend from source

I normally use the pre-built mythfrontend for the Shield TV, but saw a lot of changes to mythtv in the recent months and I thought I'd build it from source for fun. If I just build from master it works fine and I end up with: mythfrontend-20200602-arm64-v32-Pre-523-g907841a119.apk I then did a make...

FWIW - this should be fixed in master and 0.31 now.

Re: Stuttering on VAAPI

You might try running mythtv with the i965 driver rather than iHD driver and see if anything improves. LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=i965 mythfrontend -v playback I have found there are some issues with the now default iHD driver and some architectures on 20.04. Good call - I hadn't realised that 20.04 shipped...

Re: Ryzen 3 3200g, Ubuntu 18.04.4, no hardware acceleration

I'm assuming you are running MythTV v30. I haven't had a chance to rest on a ryzen GPU, but I would suggest the following;- - try the VAAPI2 profile - which is your best bet for hardware acceleration for v30 - but it's performance isn't the best. I would also suggest posting the full output from 'my...

I feel I'm missing something really obvious here:(

I'll push an update with some more logging to see what is going on.

Thanks for the perseverance.
