Re: Preferred motherboards for MythTV

Thanks for the reply. I have several of the DC3217 NUCs (both IYE and BY models). They work great with my SiliconDust HDHomeRun prime cablecard tuners as well as streaming uncompressed Blu-Ray rips from my server. I believe they have the Intel HD graphics 4000 GPU. I'd like to set them up as MythTV ...

Preferred motherboards for MythTV

I'm new to MythTV and I'm looking for info on motherboards, graphics cards, and HD audio. I'll probably be going with a Mythbuntu setup. 1. Are there any specific makes and models of motherboards that are best suited for MythTV? 2. Integrated graphics (Intel core i3/i5 integrated HD graphics) or sta...

Re: Cablecard Tuners

Both models are fine choices. I'm new to MythTV, but if you've got the PCIe tuner installed in your master backend then it shouldn't matter whether the tuner is networked or installed in a standalone PC. The one thing to consider is that the Ceton gets you six tuners while only having to rent a sing...

Mythbuntu and XBMC/Kodi

I am completely new to MythTV so I'm still in fact finding mode to see if I want to go down the path. I'm looking at installing Mythbuntu, but I'd also like to use XBMC/Kodi for streaming movies from my server. I believe XBMC can coexist with MythTV, but I have a concern about whether it will bitstr...

Re: Has anyone successfully set up MythTV with Ceton InfiniT

He's referring to the InfiniTV ETH 6 tuner, which is a networked tuner similar to the SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime. I'm a newbie here, but I believe the PCIe versions of the InfiniTV6 as well as the InfiniTV4 will work with MythTV, but I have no clue about the ETH 6.

Re: Hardware with mythtv?

AFAIK, only Windows Media Center can use cablecard tuners with any channels that are copy protected. It has to do with Cable Labs certification. Cablecard tuners will only work with channels flagged as copy freely when used with any DVR app other than WMC.

Re: Newer Hauppauge 1250,2250s not supported in linux

I'm new here and I'm thinking about giving MythTV a try to see if I like it better than Windows Media Center. I currently have three Hauppauge 2250 dual tuner cards in a WMC box and I want to make sure they'll work in MythTV. They're the original 2250s and not the newer 2255 replacements. I also hav...
