Re: The future of MythTV

Thanks for the replies. Help me to understand why the hate for mythfrontend and the love for Kodi :? What does Kodi do that mythfrontend doesn't :?: I would not say it's hate for mythfrontend. I'm a fan of the simple interface. It's easy to use and for someone like me, all I need to do is watch rec...

Re: The future of MythTV

I've been thinking about this for a while now. I've used MythTV as my main go-to for OTA TV and movies (DVD .iso's and bluray .mkv) for probably 15 years. There have been some great improvements but at the same time it does seem to lack features of other options out there. Some are limitations impos...

Re: ATSC 3.0

Here's the reply from someone on the SiliconDust forum: libhdhomerun is a waste of your time for this since the way MythTV uses it is designed around broadcasts being transport streams. ATSC 3 doesn't use transport streams, so there's really no point in trying to cram that square peg into the round ...

Re: ATSC 3.0

For this error you can try st->request_probe = 0 The AC-4 patch must be from a different version of ffmpeg than what is in mythtv. But it just might work.... That seemed to work and it compiled cleanly but I was not able to get any audio playback. At this point I think it's a bit beyond my pay grad...

Re: ATSC 3.0

For AC-4 support I tried manually editing the MythTV FFMPEG directory with the patches here: https://github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/compare/master...richardpl:ac4?diff=unified It keep throwing an error during compile: libavformat/mpegts.c: In function ‘ff_old_parse_mpeg2_descriptor’: libavformat/mpegts.c:...

Re: ATSC 3.0

The log shows that the "atsc3:<frequency>" command does indeed make a difference, it seems to go in lock now. Next step is then to start the streamhandler (the "RunTS" line) but either no data is received or the data cannot be parsed. To figure that out there is a new patch attached, 20210403-hdhr-...

Re: ATSC 3.0

Hi Neil, Find attached patch 20210402-hdhr-atsc3-00.patch which can be applied to a recent master. This is just for testing; it forces the modulation method from 8vsb to atsc3 for all HDHomeRun tuning attempts. This means you will not scan any of the atsc1.0 channels but with a bit of luck this giv...

Re: ATSC 3.0

Question: can you compile the latest master from source? In that case I can make patches that you can then apply and test. N.B. There is a Wiki page for that https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Build_from_Source Thanks, Klaas. Hi Klaas, I've got master up and running! Let me know once you have patches and ...

Re: ATSC 3.0

Interesting! Yes, on all four tuners it can do the scan. On the first two tuners it can detect the ATSC 3.0 channels but they have the same virtual number as the ATSC 1.0. This causes problems (SiliconDust's solution for the hdhomerun_config_gui app is to append a 1 to the start of the virtual numb...

Re: ATSC 3.0

I'm not Elizabeth but maybe my answers will help development! - does mythtv-setup recognize the HDHR as a HDHR? Yes, it sees it as a standard HDHR with four tuners. - can you configure the HDHR in mythtv-setup? Yes, it sets up as a normal HDHR. The first two tuners are the ATSC 3.0 + ATSC 1.0 tuners...

Full range or limited

In 0.31 an option in the video playback was added to be able to select Full or Limited range for video output. The help text states: Enable (recommended) to supply full range RGB output to your display device. Disable to supply limited range RGB output. This setting applies to both the GUI and media...

Re: White Box covers most of Screen

Why don't you guys help your fellow FreeBDS users by fixing the port if it's broken. Give something back instead of take, take, take  That doesn't really help. I thought these forums, specifically one titled, "Troubleshooting" would be where one could get help. Just because I don't have a "de...

Re: New ATSC tuners

I've used the HDHR multirec in the past and it worked well. The need has been pretty low because the sub channels in my area don't have much I'm interested in. With the new ATSC3.0 rollout, at least for the Portland, OR market, multirec will be important. From KyL416 on the AVS Forum: KPDX and KRCW ...
