Re: New ATSC tuners

I've used the HDHR multirec in the past and it worked well. The need has been pretty low because the sub channels in my area don't have much I'm interested in. With the new ATSC3.0 rollout, at least for the Portland, OR market, multirec will be important. From KyL416 on the AVS Forum: KPDX and KRCW ...

Re: New ATSC tuners

I'd still go with a HDHomerun. I've been running one for years and it's been solid. The only problem we ever had with ours was when the power wart died after many, many years. I guess I should say I'm on my second HDHomerun. I also had the wall wart issue on the first gen HDHR. I found several blow...

I've got the new ATSC 3.0 backed on kickstarter and exited to get that in and play with it.

Re: 4k Screen in my future

So the holy grail of full 4k HDR support and small form factor:) Some technical detail below but If you want to future proof yourself against future developments, I would recommend a newer NUC or Intel/AMD based mini-itx system. If you're feeling brave - maybe one of the Android TV boxes running li...

ATSC3 Ready?

With SiliconDust fully funding their ATSC3 HDHomerun in about 45 minutes on Kickstarter it appears a consumer priced tuner is hitting the market middle of this year. Is MythTV ATSC3 ready with HEVC h.265? What about the interactive HTML/JS content? I'm assuming that MythTV will be OK with the simple...

Re: Slight Visual Studder with TrueHD 7.1 Audio Track

Hi all, Finally got around to testing this again. I increased the also buffer to 3072: $ more /proc/asound/card1/pcm9p/sub0/prealloc 3072 Video playback is much better, at least on the one movie I have with TrueHD. I didn't notice any visual studder as I was testing but the playback log was still fi...

Re: Slight Visual Studder with TrueHD 7.1 Audio Track

Sorry for the delay on this... Here's what I've got. I used a .mkv rip of the Wonder Woman bluray. It has a TrueHD track that usually causes significant studder. Oddly, I had two segfaults when trying to play the video. Once it happened right when I started and another when I switched from TrueHD to...

No problem Vaska!

Maybe with all the extra free time I have due to coronavirus seclusion I can generate new log files and see if we can get this fixed!

Re: Slight Visual Studder with TrueHD 7.1 Audio Track

I have this same issue. In my case the studder is pretty significant and leads to an unwatchable movie. I posed about this on the mailing list but never got any significant feedback (looks like the pastebin I used for my log file has expired): https://lists.gt.net/mythtv/users/626143 There is no stu...

Re: Mythtv 30, hdhomerun, tuner offline issue

Mythtv 30 works fine for a few days, but after that the hdhomerun goes "offine" and recordings fail, unless I restart the backend. I'm running on Gentoo. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I'm running 30 on Linux Mint 19.1 and I have the same issue. I've not had the time to dig in ...

State of judder free playback?

I recently did a system upgrade and moved to a more recent kernel and proprietary Nvidia driver. Most of the old modelines in my xorg.conf are now not valid according to the new Nvidia driver so I'm trying to figure out how to get the correct resolutions and refresh rates depending on the video. In ...

A follow up here... The change was committed to 0.28 and I've re-compiled the source. Everything works great!

Thanks to everyone who helped get this fixed!

Re: Watch TV (live) Is Jittery But Recorded Program Is OK

I am looking at that ticket and verifying the fix. If it looks OK and nobody has any objections I will commit the fix in the next few days. https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12717 I've been watching the comments on the ticket and I'm really happy to see this getting worked on! Thanks for your hel...

Re: Watch TV (live) Is Jittery But Recorded Program Is OK

Hey! Finally someone else with the same problem I have! Try changing the channel then going back to the original. That fixes it for me. I tracked it down to some patches that were added during 0.27 but they got put back in to 0.28. See below: https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12717 Unfortunately i...

Re: Tuner shows up twice in backend status

I have an HDHomeRun with two tuners, but it shows up as three in the backend. The first tuner is repeated. I don't know if it makes any difference or not, nor do I know what caused this, I recently got MythTV running (Kodi frontend) and the first time I logged into the backend over the web I saw th...
