Re: RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

@jfabernathy > Not sure if it's a difference in media type ... It's very difficult to say - I started grokking the libmythtv/ffmpeg/omx code just to get an idea of how the various playback components fit together and where things might be going wrong; my eyes glazed over inside five minutes but it s...

Re: RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

@jfabernathy Thanks - that's kind of you. I find the further into the recording the worse the Ffwd or fwd skip problem gets; sometimes repeatedly skipping right to the end (whilst I madly stab the play/resume button). (Aside: @jksj I quickly tried kodi on a Pi3B+ as an alternative frontend. Utterly ...

Re: RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

I can't help with your H.264 question, but I use a combo FE/BE on a Raspberry Pi4 B 4GB ram and the USA OTA mpeg HD 1080i/720p recordings work fine. I'm comparing the playback on a RPI4 as very acceptable. I have to find very high action scenes where I notice any difference from my FE on a PC with ...

Re: RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

Thanks for that @jksj. I may indeed go the Kodi route eventually as I'm finding mythfrontend increasingly frustrating with Ffwd and ad skips. (It seems to lose its position in the playback stream completely sometimes.) Note: I did find some interesting ffmpeg/Openmax bug fixes here which look highly...

RPI4, Buster, Mythtv Light, H264, playback stutter

With great help from @MikeB2013 I have Mythtv Light 30 running on Pi3B+ (FE) and Pi4 4GB (FE & BE). Both Pis are running Buster. (This thread refers.) Both frontends are fine with SD recordings but exhibit video stutter and unpredictable behaviour in FFwd/Rev or time jumps when replaying 1080i@25fps...

Re: Changing delivery system from DVB-T to DVB-T2

> No channels are found during MythTV scan I have come across this several times trying to scan all multiplexes in one fell swoop. Increasing tuning timeouts didn't help. My workaround was to do a tuned scan, one multiplex at a time. It really helped me to run mythtv-setup from the command line usin...

Re: RPI4, HDHomerun, UK Freeview ...

Hi Mike, thanks for bearing with me and your suggestions. I've spent many hours trying all sorts of combinations of settings without much success. Active boot.config settings: $ grep -o '^[^#]*' /boot/config.txt disable_overscan=1 hdmi_enable_4kp60=1 hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=31 <---- NOTE: This only a...

Re: RPI4, HDHomerun, UK Freeview ...

Thanks Mike, good to know. I've now turned off swap completely and can watch Live TV fairly well without things really slowing down but it's still better to record then view. Currently I'm trying to reduce the amount of jitter on playback of HDHR Freeview HD recordings on the 4K TV . (No problem on ...

Re: RPI4, HDHomerun, UK Freeview ...

Thanks again Mike. With your help I have now got most things under control. I have now fixed up backend settings for HDHR as per your guidelines and completely replaced my old PC box with the Pi4. Without having to do anything special the picture sizing sorted itself out by HDMI magic once the cabli...

Re: RPI4, HDHomerun, UK Freeview ...

Great advice again Mike - thank you. In no particular order: frontend / backend connection: works fine now (intermittent network problem and typo in master setup) > I hope OpenMax High Quality is just a typo Compared with "Normal" maxing out 1 CPU, OpenMax Normal seemed to spread load across CPUs we...

Re: RPI4, HDHomerun, UK Freeview ...

@MikeB2013 Thanks for the info / advice, much appreciated. Yes, the HDHR is working EXTREMELY well for me too on Pi 4. So far I've managed to simultaneously record 5 HD channels and watch one of them (pseudo Live TV) all on one Pi4. Random Setup Notes: I have found ad-detection /pre-roll (silence.py...

BBC iplayer

Raspbian Buster + Mythtv30 Trying out BBC iPlayer, I followed the instructions at https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Bbciplayer.py I got a message on all RSS feeds found with Update Site Maps: "BBC iPlayer feeds are no longer available. Thanks @bim-ubunet, it was a long time ago but I don't think I ever got VDPAU working with that old PC. In fact I got so traumatised with Nvidia graphics I've never bought any Nvidia kit since!

[Solved] How to Disable Queuing of Metadata Jobs

Thanks to @MikeB2013 I have Mythtv 30 frontend and backend running on a Pi4 4MB with a HDHomerun Quatro. I use "Mythcenter-wide 1.7" theme. It all runs extremely well. I never want to download metadata for any recorded TV program. I have set mythtv-setup->General->Job Queue(Backend Specific)->Allow ...
