Re: Does MythTV adjust recording time when show is delayed?

Short answer: No. The way I handle it is set the end time 45 min. or so late for shows that are likely to be delayed (CBS is the worst). A good thing about Mythtv is that if you do that for two shows in a row on the same channel (or even the same transport), you can be recording on another channel w...

Wish List: Delay Closed Captioning

Being an older person, but not deaf, I sometimes have trouble understanding dialogue on TV. So I use closed captioning to see what was said if I didn't understand it. Mythtv's closed captioning comes up well before the related audio, meaning I have to choose between always following the CC, or havin...

Is recording as .mpg possible?

After "upgrading" to 0.28, I've seen a distinct loss of picture quality with recorded .ts files versus the old .mpg files. Is there a way to record as .mpg with the "upgraded" version?

Re: Recommend OTA ASTC tuner card

Before I go spending a Benjamin, I was hoping someone who's used both the dual and quad tuners could report on how the quad performs compared to the dual vis-a-vis signal strength. I'd really prefer using two dual tuners (I have two antennas) but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Re: Recommend OTA ASTC tuner card

I'm currently using a Hauppauge 2255 dual tuner card. I'm interested in the quad card, but I'm concerned that having 4 tuners instead of 2 will halve the signal strength to each tuner. Being 70 miles from the nearest transmitters, I don't have really strong signals. I'm curious if anyone's found thi...

Show Damaged Recordings on Recording List

I'd like to see what recordings are "damaged" on the recording list, but some themes (like the ones I like for various reasons) don't give any indication of the "videoprop" status. Is there some way to make all themes show "damaged" recordings (such as highlighting them in yellow)?

Hauppauge Model 01595 USB Tuner

I'm looking to replace or augment my Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 with their WinTV-dualHD (Model 01595) USB stick tuner. According to Hauppauge's wiki, "This version of the board is like a USB version of the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 PCIe card." I'm currently running the 4.15.0-24 kernel in Ubuntu 16.04....

Re: Is there a way to add OTA FM radio.

I've been looking for the same answer. When referring to the "guide" you cited, the first thing to do was: # ivtv-radio -s That app not being installed, I was instructed to install ivtv-utils which I did. After running it again, I got the following: radio: No such file or directory cannot open /dev/...

Re: Migrating Recorded Program Data to Newer Schema

Thanks, guys! The problem does (did) seem to be in the frontend setup as you pointed out.

There are just too many ways to screw mythtv up.

Re: No Video on Old Recordings After Upgrade to .28

Are you using any of the OpenGL playback profiles? If so make sure the theme painter is also set to OpenGL. You seem to have put your finger on my problem. When I restored the old database, the playback profile went to Qt with an OpenGL paint engine. I matched them up and now all seems well. Thanks...

No Video on Old Recordings After Upgrade to .28 [Solved]

Ubuntu 16.04 mythtv .28 In a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04 and mythtv .28, the frontend works well with new recordings, BUT after migrating database with old recording data from mythtv .27's schema, the old recordings (.mpg) only play audio and cause the frontend window to disappear. I got the same ...

Re: Migrating Recorded Program Data to Newer Schema

First I ran /usr/share/mythtv/mythconverg_backup.pl in 14.04 environment. Then I rebooted into 16.04 and ran /usr/share/mythtv/mythconverg_restore.pl. The frontend told me to run mythtv-setup to update the schema. After doing that, I started the frontend and all my old recordings were there, BUT whe...

I recently had the exact same problem. See this thread:

Did you succeed in solving your problem? I had looked at that thread and it didn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Migrating Recorded Program Data to Newer Schema [Solved]

Specifically .27 to .28. Here's the backstory. I upgraded Mythbuntu 14.04 on PC to 16.04, but there were so many problems I decided to do a fresh 16.04 install on a usb (3.0) stick. The 14.04 PC has mythtv .27 and all my recording data. The 16.04 (usb) now has mythtv .28 with no recording data but s...
