Re: Filter out duplicate concurrent programmes

However if the start times are identical then one isn't flagged as recorded before the other begins. The result is that both will start and record to completion. Normally it doesn't matter very much, but because they each take a tuner a third programme can be conflicted out and missed. So I end up ...

Re: backend for Windows

To me, the Visual Studio approach looks more promising.
I agree. I have no experience with visual studio so I am hoping someone else cracks it before I get back to it.

I dual boot a lot now so it's no longer a big deal for me.

Re: Default Storage Group directory assignment

The HDMI issue is well documented in this thread as well as a work around for 14.04. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1165&p=6105#p6105 Thankyou for linking the details. The bug linked in that thread indicates that it has been patched in xfce 4.12.1 and it appears current version in Ubuntu 16.04.01 is xfce 4.1...

Re: Newbe, looking to do basic testing

For a newbie i would recommend 14.04 version of mythbuntu and not the 16.04 I disagree with this. For a lot of reasons (starting at fixes/0.28 not fixes/0.27, QT5 not QT4, systemd not upstart). If your going to go with Mythbuntu then start at 16.04 not 14.04, you will (probably) end up there eventu...

Re: Default Storage Group directory assignment

HDMI doesn't work on 14.04 MythTV works fine with HDMI in both fixes/0.27 and fixes/0.28 (and many other branches). If HDMI is not working on Ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04 (or Xubuntu) then that is definitely an issue well outside the control of the Ubuntu mythtv packagers or the mythtv devs, it would be a...

Re: Setting up a Slave Backend

I haven't got around to setting up slave backends yet. But this link I think has some excellent reading on the topic. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Storage_Groups#Multiple_Backends In particular see the quick rules listed. My quick understanding: MythTV doesn't redirect in-progress recordings (specifi...

Re: backend for Windows

The change to QT5 was what finally stopped me. In short I was attempting to cross-compile but failed. I just seemed to hit a never ending chain of bugs and dependency / version incompatibilities. Taglib was a big one early on IIRC, I got around it by sticking with an earlier version that would have ...

Re: backend for Windows

I tried very, very hard to get 0.28 working on windows last Christmas but couldn't do it. I think the linked pages are out of date now. Unfortunately I am not aware of anyone who has 0.28 (frontend or backend) working on windows at this time although there are a number of interested people (as I unde...

Re: Convert Tuner to m3u8/ts

What version mythtv were you using? I'm not aware of anyone that has successfully got 0.28 (frontend or backend) working on Windows. I put a heap of work into it over last christmas and couldn't get it working. 0.27 works on windows and there are installers available, however I think 0.27 is missing...

Re: Setting up a Slave Backend

By the way, SQLServer isn't running on the slave - do I need to install it and create users (mythtv)? You only need one mysql database but your remote machine needs mysql to act as a client. Check that you can remote access the database from your slave backend machine by trying from a terminal (rep...

Re: ubuntu 16.04 myth backend 0.28.1 fresh install issues

I ran: apt-cache policy mythtv mythtv: Installed: 2:0.28.0+fixes.20160413.15cf421-0ubuntu2 Yeah that installed version is about a year old and as I understand it won't pull in fixes. I have given up on trying to run myth 0.28.1 on 16.04. A few days ago I did a fresh install of mythbuntu 14.04.5 and...

Re: Problems skipping

I agree with updating. There were quite a lot of LiveTV improvements (big improvements and a lot of significant changes) during the time of 0.27 so upgrading to at least fixes/0.27 (27.6) would be required.

Re: Mythweb and Kodi/Myth front end issues

It might be worth checking on the Kodi forums for assistance as I believe LiveTV has a history of being problematic when used via Kodi (I don't use Kodi so don't know for sure).

Try viewing LiveTV via mythfrontend to confirm that it is not something to do with your mythtv config.

Re: ubuntu 16.04 myth backend 0.28.1 fresh install issues

I would be interested to see what the following command returns - you may find without the addition of the ppa that you are on quite an old version and wont be able to get fixes: apt-cache policy mythtv Most of your notes seem to indicate permission issues. I will try and add some notes to hopefully...
