Re: Frontend forgetting server on Shield

Well, it did feel a little like black magic, but I followed the spell as directed and it seems to have worked - thank you! I just changed the PIN on the backend, restarted it, started up the front end and it connected fine. I have to say I'm a bit puzzled by the proper function of the PIN option if ...

Re: Frontend forgetting server on Shield

Thanks for the response. The backend setting you describe is currently already set to the ip address. (I did just for fun change it the other way, so it was a name, but as expected this made no difference. I've put it back) One thing that puzzles me is how the Shield-based front end would be able to...

Solved: Frontend forgetting server on Shield

Hi all I got Mythfrontend running nicely on my Nvidia shield pro last year - all working as it should, more or less. Several days ago the Shield was getting most insistent about updating itself (to 8.2.2??) so I foolishly let it. I think that was the trigger event for my current problem. Now, whenev...

[SOLVED]: Channel Scanning Problems (UK Freeview, HDHomerun)

Thanks for pointing out the freqid ticket. Reading that, it seems to be a bit lower than "a bit low"! But I understand that it doesn't have a lot of practical use, even if I have found it very useful in the past when resolving duplicate channels. I guess I'll have to get used to approaching these th...

Re: Channel Scanning Problems (UK Freeview, HDHomerun)

Update: I used the SQL as suggested and it worked as advertised. Thank you! As you said, channel IDs for old recordings are now mostly wrong or missing but that doesn't bother me. I note that deleting a channel via mythweb does really delete the channel (it doesn't show up in the deleted channel cou...

Re: Channel Scanning Problems (UK Freeview, HDHomerun)

Hi - many thanks for the comprehensive response. What you've described explains a lot, especially some of my failed workarounds!

I do use mythweb a lot so, armed with your info, I'll see if I can make it look ok.

[Solved]: Channel Scanning Problems (UK Freeview, HDHomerun)

I've been using MythTV for some years now: I recently switched to using an HDHomerun tuner and it seemed to be working fine (Ubuntu 20.04, Myth 0.31). Then I missed a recording on an obscure channel and it looked like a tuning problem so I thought I'd retune - and now I've disappeared into a pit of ...

Re: TBS DVB-T2 signal issues

I'll mark this as "solved" not because I have exactly but more because I'm giving up! As always, there seem to have been several things going on at once. My aerial was not ideally pointed - I've tweaked that for a small improvement. I think my TBS tuner is partly broken - I've bought a Hauppauge Win...

Re: TBS DVB-T2 signal issues

My first guess would be a cable/connector issue. Try to put the cable/connector that you put in the TBS card in a real TV and check if it that is OK. Fair guess, but no. I've tried the server in two different locations, each of which has a separate feed from the amplifier, and in each case I've als...

Re: TBS DVB-T2 tuning issues

Continuing to play with this: I moved the TBS card back to the previous server in case there were something subtly different about the driver, say, but got similar results. For a while it looked like one tuner was working and the other wasn't ... so I disabled the "faulty" one by removing its adapte...

[SOLVED] TBS DVB-T2 signal issues

I've been using a TBS 6280 dual DVB-T2 card more or less successfully for some time. Recently I decided to rearrange my kit and wanted to move the backend to a different machine - both the old and new machines were Ubuntu 20.04 with Myth 0.31, current TBS open source drivers. I can't say it was pain...

Re: SOLVED: Custom MythTV Menus on Shield TV frontend

Well, after much experimenting, I have a solution of sorts ... I downloaded APK Editor Studio from https://qwertycube.com/apk-editor-studio/download/ ... use it to open the Mythfront end APK, swap in your desired xml files, save and install. This handy app takes care of signing, too. The only glitch...

Re: MythTV Leanback frontend

Given that I've not yet solved my Myth Frontend menu problems, and that the Program guide is now available, I thought I'd give this a go. Installed and setup quickly, and is very pretty. V199. Slight quibbles that I can't see the date/time recorded on the recordings listing (unless you drill down in...

Re: Custom MythTV Menus on Shield TV frontend

Thanks for the response but I'm still not getting this to work. In Android Studio, with the Device File Explorer panel open, I can navigate to the Mythbuntu files at /data/data/org.myth.mythfrontend/files/themes/Mythbuntu ... if I right click any of the files there then (this is on Windows) I get th...
