Re: Determine loading on system for additional programs?

Another thought, A Shield TV makes a decent MythTV FE and is cheaper and quieter than a PC. The android client is a 100% functional replacement for a PC and the Shield is adequately powered to handle a modest library. My dad has over 10K recordings and the Shield TV bogs a little bit. I think he is ...

mythfrontend compatibility question

I am running a v29 backend with a v30 frontend on the Shield TV (2017). The last update to the v30 client was back in 2019. Can I run a v31 or v32 client on Shield TV while still running a v29 backend? I can't seem to find anything that addresses this in the wiki. There is an issue with subtitles th...

Re: Usefulness of database backup

Just about every configuration of the system is stored in the DB. A DB backup lets you reinstall MythTV to a vanilla OS and be up and running in short time.
There are community scripts that can detect missing/orphans if some recordings were deleted since the last backup.

Re: Live TV / tuners won't record

Have you tested your HDHR tuner with the HDHomerun config app? If the tuner and M-card are working, you should be able to view channels. If it still doesn't work, then I would look at look into either resetting your M-card with your cable provider or checking to see if your provider changed the copy...

Re: Update Database With find_orphans Output

There is something confusing about your question. Running the nightly backup should not create orphans. The situation you describe should only occur when you have to restore the DB after a system failure or DB corruption... which hopefully doesn't happen so often you need an automated solution. :) B...
