Service to get SHUTDOWN_COUNTDOWN?

Is there a programatic way for a script to get myth's shutdown countdown? (The value you see at the top of mythwelcome when the system is idle and it's going to shut down when the countdown reaches zero.)

Re: 100% Signal, No Lock

I would test running the antenna straight to only your MythTV box, eliminating all splitters. If possible with a single unbroken run of coax.

If that works, the problem may be reflections within the "maze" of splitters/coax. Especially if the layout changed when you moved the machine.

Re: 100% Signal, No Lock

So you ran the antenna direct to the tuner, no amplification at all? None integrated into the antenna either? Antenna still in the same location? So you're getting 100% signal, I assume just on some channels? Are they close/strong? Are other weaker/farther channels that work showing less than 100% (...

Re: mythpython documentation?

OK, so don't bother pointing shebang to mythpython, just python2 and import MythTV if needed. Thanks.

mythpython documentation?

I see there's an executable "mythpython" where the description is simply "mythpython is a command line utility shell for the python bindings of MythTV." Googling mythpython returns no useful info that I've found so far other than the description above. Is mythpython current, or an "old way" of doing...

Make AddVideo return Id?

It would be helpful if the Video service 'AddVideo' returned the Id of the newly added video rather than just a boolean. I am adding a video, then updating its metadata with UpdateVideoMetadata, which requires an Id. In between I get the Id with GetVideoByFileName (the same name as used in AddVideo....

Re: Help! "No Recordings available, or screen loading..."

This usually happens when the currently selected Filter or Group doesn't have any recordings My settings do not remember the previously selected group when exiting recordings. It always starts on Default recording group. And Default definitely has recordings. On the other hand, somebody else had be...

Re: AddVideo filename syntax?

The API is looking for the Storage Group: Videos . I'd verify that that points to /data2/videos too. Thanks. That must be it. I haven't defined a Videos storage group. mythutil --scanvideos works fine when automatically scanning for all videos, but I'm working on transcoding specific recordings wit...

Re: Help! "No Recordings available, or screen loading..."

OK, this is weird, but I found a solution, at least it works for now. I'll report back if it changes. In the "Watch Recordings" screen, press m for menu, choose "Change Group Filter", then choose any group. Boom. Listings back. Change back to default group, still works. Exit frontend and restart it,...

Help! "No Recordings available, or screen loading..."

When I choose Media Library -> Watch Recordings, I get the message "No Recordings available, or screen loading...". How to fix? Watch Videos works. Program Guide/Watch TV works. I set up a recording to test that still works, and it does. Information center shows it's recording, so does Upcoming Reco...

AddVideo filename syntax?

https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Video_Service#AddVideo I'm trying to add a video with the Video Service. I am sending a POST as required, with FileName and HostName in the POST data. It always returns a 500 error. mythbackend.log shows "Provided filename does not exist!" The file is directly in my video...

Re: A channel does not play often

I can watch the channel by another device... Is your MythTV tuner a multi-tuner? Is the other device a single tuner (like a TV?) A multi-tuner has an internal splitter, just like those devices you use to split a coax to feed two or more TVs (or whatever.) A two-way splitter generally loses about 3....

Re: Metadata lookup causes Backend to deadlock

Aha! I'll bet this is the issue I've been occasionally having, when I thought it was mythcommflag. Last week, I updated all my rules to disable metadata jobs, and limited queue processing to 1 simultaneous job at low cpu use. Haven't had the "Could not connect to backend" problem since. I disabled m...

Changing recorded filename and info after external transcode?

What I would like to do is, transcode a recording with an external transcoder (handbrake, ffmpeg, etc.) then update mythconverg so that the recording points to the new file (different extension than .ts) and the info about the recording is correct (file size, resolution, etc.) I haven't found an api...

Re: What to do when SchedulesDirect is wrong?

I noticed the listings were fixed this morning, then got an email from SD confirming the update was finished. The good news is, using the JSON1 extension, I can create a sqlite script to double-check for issues such as just happened, before I'm two days into missed/duplicated recordings. :) If I com...
