Whenever I play a DVD (internal player,) subtitles default to "on." I can turn them off, but I'd rather "off" be the default state.
I can't find a setting for this. Is there one?

Was going to post a link to a post where I had a similar problem last year, but I see you fixed it with a fresh install. Still, if you're interested...

I use Timeshift for backup so I just kept restoring and trying again until I got it right.

Re: Is it safe to add new columns to a table? (created and modified timestamps in program)
bill6502, OK, so altering mythconverg tables is not a good idea. Also, the lastModified data you showed only shows when the entire schedule for that stationID was updated, not individual programs. But I'm onto something. I made a copy of the sqlite database file, then let mythfilldatabase run. Then,...

Is it safe to add new columns to a table? (created and modified timestamps in program)
I would like to alter my program table, adding two new columns for create and modified timestamp, auto-populated. As discussed in these two links: https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/mysql-cookbook/0596001452/ch05s34.html https://www.tutorialspoint.com/can-mysql-automatically-store-timestamp-in-a-r...

MythTV getting slower on startup (scheduler?)
I have noticed lately, when starting, it takes longer and longer for MythTV to show any upcoming recordings. That is, if I leave it on the MythWelcome screen, or go into frontend and view upcoming recordings, it shows no upcoming recordings for about two or three minutes. I think this is the schedul...

Re: Hack to handle missed recording rule?
Are you using XMLTV or EPG?
If XMLTV, how about modifying the script to pre-process listings before MythTV loads them, instead of directly modifying table "program" after it's been updated?

Can MythTV handle a channel remapped to a different physical frequency?
I am asking this relative to a device named the "Avant X." I have one, and have been in a conversation here: https://www.digitalhome.ca/threads/avant-x-new-combining-device-for-up-to-four-antennas-from-different-directions.292636/ It has four antenna inputs (plus one for cable) and digitally combine...

Observation: different channels, different length of schedules
If you use SchedulesDirect for listings, and frequently browse program data out to the last days available looking for shows to record, here is an observation. Different channels provide different lengths of schedule data. If right after mythfilldatabase has run, you browse the last day available in...

Live TV "Disabling Audio" but recordings fine
When I start Live TV from the program guide, a message appears:
Disabling Audio
Audio Player
Aborting Reconfigure
but audio works fine playing recordings or videos. Any ideas?

Re: Scanning ts file for "actual" playback quality?
Thanks. I'll check that out. I have a similar (not as detailed yet) Perl script. The hard part seems to be figuring out which part of the output is something that will actually affect playback quality and not just a warning that can be recovered. There's soooo much output.

Sometimes fails to wake up for recording (but wakes up for mythfilldatabase)
Yesterday morning, I turned on my MythTV box, and as soon as it was up, it immediately started recording, over a half hour into a show it should have woke up for. The same thing happened this morning. However, I looked at system status and saw it woke up over an hour before to run mythfilldatabase. ...

Scanning ts file for "actual" playback quality?
I am looking for a command, ffmpeg or other, that can scan a ts file for errors that will affect display, e.g. glitches that cause a loss of a few seconds (and possibly important dialog.) I don't care about recoverable errors (that is, where error correction succeeds in producing watchable output.) ...

Re: "Change Group Filter" suddenly unsorted?
All I know is, my recording groups were sorted alphabetically (except Default and Deleted) a few days ago, I liked it that way, and now it's not. I am absolutely sure they were sorted because I use this feature every day. I see the query in PlaybackBox::showGroupFilter does not "order by" and the co...

Re: "Change Group Filter" suddenly unsorted?
Bill, I ran the query you posted, and it returns results in the same order they are appearing on my "Change Filter" popup, which is also the same as the order of recgroups.recgroupid, except with Default and Deleted at the bottom. Even though the query doesn't use the recgroups table. That query has...
