Solved: WinTV-DualHD

WOW... what a wait. So, even after the week delay, and and updated (to 18.04.2), I still was on 4.15 kernel. So I installed HWE to get it there: sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-18.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-18.04 Finally, I am on kernel 4.18 :D I added a new card, and set the max recordings to 3....

Re: WinTV-DualHD

That is so Exciting @jksj - I am looking forward to it! The good news: I set the max recordings to 3 and viola it works: I can record/watch up to 3 channels on the same frequency, i.g, 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. Nice :D It did prevent me (as expected) from changing channels to another frequency, i.g., 6.1. ...

WinTV-DualHD

I am very excited :D about the Ubuntu 18.04.2 release scheduled for tomorrow 2/7/2019. It includes Linux kernel 4.18 which should have hardware drivers for my WinTV-DualHD usb that allows me to use the second tuner :o . Currently, it is working fine, but only with one tuner. :| https://www.linuxtv.o...

Re: MythTV Backend Setup has closed unexpectedly

after a really long time (of no errors) the error came back. I really think it has something to do with jobs in the queue being run after startup. It's mythcommflag jobs, which are set to run automatically after recordings. It seems to happen at startup, probably before mysql can come up. Here is mo...

Re: MythTV Backend Setup has closed unexpectedly

Thanks for the help Bill. funny thing... it has not happened since the second reboot. Could it have been a background job, flagging commercials that failed? It was happening everyday soon after boot. I'm gonna take out the sleep and see what happens. mythbackend is an executable: file /usr/bin/mythb...

MythTV Backend Setup has closed unexpectedly

I'm consistently getting this error (Ubuntu report a problem) after boot: MythTV Backend Setup has closed unexpectedly I thought it may be MythTV Backend, and a "race" situation, network not up or capture device not up, but there is that word Setup in the error. The backend is running, but that coul...

Re: Recommend OTA ASTC tuner card

I'm using a wintv-dualhd 1595 model. USB turner. I picks ups nicely for one tuner since kernel 4.11. I can't wait for 4.17 where (in theory) both turners should work. Ubuntu 18.10 has 4.18 kernel but I am on ubuntu 18.04 LTS (kerel 4.15). Really tempted to upgrade... but I like LTS. I think they hav...

Re: transcoding

I read that blog: nice write-up. We need more of those for myth-tv. I look forward to attempting some of those techniques.... So, your error looks like it is trying to delete a file that either does not exist, or it does not have permissions to. When bill6502 was telling you to run it manually, he w...

expectedPTS != expectedDTS + ptsIncrement

Anyone else have this error? trying to remove cutlist from ATSC OTA Recording mpegts. The recording seems fine in MythTV Player. cmd is: mythtranscode --mpeg2 --chanid 1062 --starttime 2018-11-04T19:00:00 --outfile "/var/lib/mytharchive/temp/work/1/newfile.mpg" ... 2018-12-05 17:12:18.285732 I Inser...

Re: DVD cuts out early

 I've made some progress.... even created one DVD. The way I have it now is having handbrake run after the cuts, but not in place of mythffmpeg. So, I have ditched the HB profile for now and hardcoded it in doProcessFile. It cleans up nicely. Told you I don't give up easy. :ugeek: The probl...

Re: Suggestion for a decent, currently-available remote/ir pair for Linux frontend

I'm using mythmote on my android phone. :D I connects thru the network, which I am always on wifi at home. It works great. Have not discovered all the keys/mappings for things :? like: go into edit mode E, mark commercials Z, and such (they may be in there, just have not figured it out yet), but it ...

Re: DVD cuts out early

Ugh.. it did not work. So I saw that "Profiles" had a nice xml file which would lend itself well to HandBrakeCLI parameters. And I was thinking that the videos where good until that point/stage. If I could substitute HandBrakeCLI for mythffmpeg to re-encode, with a few tweaks to the code and ...

Re: Error parsing parameters

Triple check the pw for mythtv and the account you are using. They need access to the mysql db. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Config.xml I know I had a problem with the current user: /home/myloginname/.mythtv/config.xml not matching up with: /etc/mythtv/config.xml also had to make sure the pw in mysql...

Re: DVD cuts out early

I have heard good things about handbrake and ran it on the source file and it cleaned up nicely.... I'm trying to find the right spot to plug it into mythburn.py. I'm thinking of creating a new "profile" named "HB-SP", etc, then checking for "HB-" in the name and starting the command with handbrake ...
