And on mine, also in the UK, an attenuator was needed to get HD DVB-T2.

Maybe your wiki user location flag of Ireland confused the poster hence the UK suggestion? You mentioned in your post a fix from someone else and a wish to install mythweb. Did you get anywhere with that? I don't think I can see in your posts any answer to the request as to the operating system/myth...

Might be an idea to check permissions where the recordings are being stored. Are they OK for the user that the backend/frontend run as?

Once setup Mythbuntu has been brilliant. I've been running 16.04 for a year with regular updates to MytvTV v29 via fixes/29. There could be a problem with configuring MythTV where the backend can be tricky to shutdown and this could cause problems with setup. sudo systemctl stop mythtv-backend mytht...

Can old recordings be imported into the recordings directory and have them added to the database so it knows they're there?
