Re: Can't connect to DB (Mageia system)

@blm-ubunet, good catch, yes the Master should match the Backend, but he's not getting that far. Can't even connect to the DB to read it. MasterServerName now defines the Master/ Slave role. @anp66, hold off on setting the MasterServerName manually. @anp66, your netstat command is OK, but may need to...

Re: Can't connect to DB (Mageia system)

Agreed/sorry about the frustrating part. As to structure, you've done the normal (ping, nmap, mysql --host... .) Note that MasterServerName is missing from the SELECT above. Problem is that it gets set in mythtv-setup or when the DB is upgraded from a lower schema. I can't recall anyone using localh...

Re: Case sensitivity/insensitivity in MySQL queries?

Use: SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM people; and then FROM program. Note the Collation column for the columns of interest. It's set at DB creation time in the MythTV product. There are only six columns in the DB that use utf8_bin. Note that there are Python and Perl bindings as well as the Services API that ...

Re: Can't connect to DB (Mageia system)

Our current Ansible tree says that for rpm qt5-qtbase-mysql is used. That may have changed depending on your distribution (I don't have any Mageia.) The last test, using --host=localhost is a good choice. Don't know why the 127 one fails. Plus localhost matches your config.xml, if it hasn't changed:...

Anders, Take a look at this one, note the initial post in the thread has the same symptom. https://forum.mythtv.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=2957&p=14245&hilit=libQt5Sql#p14334 If your OS uses pacman, then I believe this will show if the driver is available: pacman --query --list qt5-base | grep libqsql...

Re: Here's how to recreate category_type from recorded table

To be clear, Templates are only used at new recording rule creation time. Changing a Template
doesn't affect existing rules or existing recorded metadata.

Re: setting locale & guide information

It's not a Qt default, MythTV is setting the Qt default to the desired value, I'll assume you want en_CA. I don't have a Pi with MythTV on it so won't help much. If there's a full MFDB log, see if there's a line complaining about LANG not being set. You can set LANG in if required. I don't expect th...

Re: Here's how to recreate category_type from recorded table

Not really clear why the recording rule solution isn't OK for you, but it's your computer;). Don't recognize an "on demand" system either. There is a Services API available and you can create rules programmatically if that's your goal. See https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/DVR_Service#UpdateRecordSchedule...

Re: setting locale & guide information

I'd try: sudo --set-home --login --user=mythtv locale to see what user mythtv
is set to. Assumes the backend runs as user mythtv. Or, you can just type
locale as yourself which is probably the same. For *buntu, I'd look in /etc/default/locale.

Re: HDHomerun second tuner 0.29 problem

Three posts above, "every source" may be interpreted as having 4 sources. There are uses for that, but from the other discussion in this sub-thread, there should be 1. E.g. I have a 3 tuner HDHR. There are 3 HDHOMERUN: 1234ABCD entries in Capture cards , 1 entry in Video sources (I named it: HDHR ) ...

Re: Recorder fails halfway through recording, but cannot discern reason. Help me debug? :)

I can help with logging. Try: systemctl cat mythtv-backend and you'll see a line like this: EnvironmentFile=-/etc/mythtv/additional.args . Edit/create that file and add a line like: ADDITIONAL_ARGS="-v record" . Restart the backend for it to take affect. (the leading minus sign means it's OK if the ...

@varneyb, to answer your point above, the URL is on the 1st line of that page: Please also see the Ticket HOWTO...
and is: http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/wiki/TicketHowTo. Although I'd admit that it's not obvious to the casual

Re: [SOLVED] Master v0.28-pre-1487-g746897b wont connect

@varneyb, are you running v0.28-pre? There have been changes in later
releases. In v30, you'll see: Primary IP address/DNS name: plus a checkbox
for Master.

In config.xml, for a combined BE/FE, the Host value should be localhost unless
the DB is on a different host.
