Re: Here's how to recreate category_type from recorded table

category only holds a single value. So if it's been labelled "Comedy" then it isn't a movie (even though you may disagree). If there's no comedy template then it will use the default template. Movie databases use multiple tags, such as "comedy/kids/sci-fi", but AFAIK guide providers don't support th...

Re: Here's how to recreate category_type from recorded table

Yes. Originally I thought it was only the "category" but, looking again, it will match "category_type" as well. https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/71c65b Only those fields though. Others, such as "originalairdate", can only be accessed from a script. Note that the script will be executed for ev...

Re: Here's how to recreate category_type from recorded table

program data for recordings is never lost: it's retained in the recordedprogram table category_type is an odd thing: its mainly useful for treating episode/season numbers and duplicate scheduling. category is probably a better property to use: its values come from your guide provider, so vary. Are y...

Re: Mythwelcome cannot shut down computer

I thought that the idea of mythwelcome was to only shut down the machine when it was idle and not to shut down if you are using the desktop, such as an xterm, browser, etc. Doesn't doing all this testing with a browser and terminal always qualify as keeping the system active? No, the backend will a...

Re: MythTV 29.1, mythfilldatabase problem

Not a Shepherd user but reinstalling is a bit drastic. if Myth & Shepherd are working otherwise then you just need a simple configuration fix to tie them together. Setting the grabber to "No grabber" and removing any XMLTV related files from ~glen/.mythtv should revert you back to a clean state. The...

Re: [SOLVED] What inserts programid entries in my DB?

Correct, we use the XMLTV data as given. EIT is an alternative to XMLTV/mythfilldatabase. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/EIT I was just musing on what Myth would do with EIT data of that form - consistency is always nice! Looks like the XMLTV 'patch' and https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12121 failed...

Re: [SOLVED] What inserts programid entries in my DB?

I see your point. xmltv.se lists it as: { "category" : { "en" : [ "movie" ] }, "title" : { "de" : "Tatort: Die ewige Welle" }, But TVDB.com considers it a TVShow "Tatort" with episodes & subtitles Myth does handle EIT data in that form and splits it into title/subtitle. But I don't think I ever seen...

Re: What inserts programid entries in my DB?

I'm no authority but generally movie titles have always been unique. As clashes proliferate they tend to use a sequel number or year (of release) to distinguish themselves. Ultimately it's the metadata projects such as https://www.themoviedb.org that set the standards. Strictly speaking, movies don'...

Re: What inserts programid entries in my DB?

mythfilldatabase constructs the program id during parsing here: https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/master/mythtv/programs/mythfilldatabase/xmltvparser.cpp#L597 It's an encoded form of category + title + season + episode, used for duplicate detection. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Duplicate_matching...

See https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/13452

Stick to exiv2 v0.27_0 or use the (simple) patch from there.

Re: silence.preset settings for short commercial breaks

Looks like you have the right idea. Many short clips is the best identifier of an advert. It's hard to identify a single promo without producing lots of false positives as well. Running silence.py manually on some samples with --loglevel=debug --preset=",0.25,2,40" should help you discover the optim...

Re: MythTV fails to record (because of late EPG change?)

"Record this showing" creates a time-based rule, which will fail on EIT changes. I suspect the "Record this time (and date)" might actually fail less often as they have a larger time tolerance than "Record this" "Record All" is good for series, but for single showings "Record one showing.."/Find One...

Re: Can't play videos using VLC

Vlc should work with NFS set up. That wiki page is old and relates to that. https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Video_Library#Disadvantages documents that it won't work with Storage Groups, as you've found. The metadata of the video will contain an 'Orientation' property (ffprobe should show it). Modern pla...

Re: Gallery Doesn't Show Videos

It should be a one-time thing. You haven't mentioned how many images/videos in your library, but it can take a long time to generate thumbnails, particularly for videos (which are done last because they are so slow). So, on first-time use, it can appear sluggish because the backend is so busy servin...
