Hauppauge Tuner Card Revision Nightmare!

I've been struggling with an ATSC tuner card issue for a while now. We have 3 different older Hauppauge 1250's with different revision numbers and they tune ATSC channels with varying success. Here they are ordered from best to worst: 1. Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 79571 LF REV D5D9 (lspci shows PCI CX...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Yes I agree with pvr4me, the antenna was professionally installed, it is standard antenna they use for our area, it gets over 20 channels with the Panasonic built-in tuner. The stealth hawk antenna is the SSH-iii, not the original stealth hawk. It is a great antenna that beat the 4228 in my tests an...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Yes I physically unplugged my mythbuntu system and tried it at their place since theirs was receiving bad reception. I did a channel rescan but I didn't try deleting sources and re-adding them. I'll try that in the next couple days. Also thanks for the link with the reception problems! Just quickly ...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Can you still buy the Dvico Fusionhdtv7? I checked and they appear to be out of stock everywhere... Just to give more details about the situation.. 1) Super Stealth Hawk III homemade antenna in the attic at my house with Hauppauge 1250's, Mythbuntu box #1 with Hauppauge 1250 ---- rock solid receptio...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Is there another readily available tuner we can use for a mythbuntu distribution? I didn't see any in the list that are in production. All the new 1250's are REALLY 1255's, the new 2250's are REALLY 2255's and have no linux driver support (yet). I had to return a couple before I realized this.. See ...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Sorry I didn't explain that very well. For testing purposes we are using a SINGLE cable from the source, no splitters. We are unplugging the SAME cable between tests. We also have a 14db amplifier outside, but I don't think it is part of the issue since the closest channel is still coming in at 2.5d...

Re: Strange tuner issue

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately yes, we are using the same cable for both the mythbuntu box and straight into the Panasonic Viera while testing..

Strange tuner issue

We have mythbuntu with two Hauppauge 1250's (the true supported 1250). The tuners work great at my place for OTA but only tune about 25% of the available channels at my parents house. When using the TV's built in ATSC tuner (Panasonic Viera) we receive 100% of the channels in the area. We thought th...

Re: Getting Hauppauge 2250 detected by Mythbuntu

So I bought a Hauppauge HVR-1250 with the single tuner hoping to sidestep the issue. Nope! Inside was a 1265. There was even a bloody picture of a 1250 card on the package, but inside it was clearly labelled 1265. At this point, there is no linux support for new Hauppauge tuners. (at least they coul...

Re: Getting Hauppauge 2250 detected by Mythbuntu

Thanks for the direction Gary. I read the post thoroughly. Is anyone having good success using a PCI or PCIe dual tuner card that ISN'T Hauppauge? The mythtv site mentions the DViCO FusionHDTV7 and KWorld DVB-T PC160-2T. Anyone have experience with either of these? How is the tuning quality compared...

Re: Getting Hauppauge 2250 detected by Mythbuntu

By the way, how did you figure out it was a 2255? Is it the rev: 129? What output can you expect with a real 2250?

Re: Getting Hauppauge 2250 detected by Mythbuntu

Thanks for catching it. This means staples.ca sold a 2255 under the name 2250. Hope they return it!

Newer Hauppauge 1250,2250s not supported in linux (yet)

Just a warning to the mythtv community, don't buy brand new Hauppauge tuners for a linux system. The HVR-1250 is actually a HVR-1265 and the HVR-2250 is actually a HVR-2255. Hauppauge did the upgrade without changing the box. Not an issue for windows users, but there is no linux support for these c...

Re: long pause before recording plays

Thanks for the reply. I have 2 Hauppauge 1250 tuners used for ATSC. "Wait for SEQ start header" is checked in both of them. It would make sense it is something to do with the tuner recordings. Any downloaded recordings play fine. This wasn't an issue until an upgrade a few months back, before upgrad...

Re: long pause before recording plays

Ok I replaced the RAM and now the pause is less noticeable but it still takes about 10 seconds to open up a live tv recording. We didn't notice the delay at all before the problem started.. Hopefully someone can spot something in the dmesg posted above. I really appreciate any direction at all!
