Re: mythconverg *.BAK

Indeed BACKUP is specified: $ sudo grep -r myisam-recover /etc/mysql /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf:myisam-recover-options = BACKUP So it looks like there was a recovery action on 5/24 and I did have a problem that day requiring me to do a full database restore from a backup. So that explains th...

Xfinity OnDemand App for Tivo Sunset

Because I have a cable card for my HDHomeRun, Comcast has notified me that the Xfinity OnDemand app for Tivo will no longer be supported as of 6/25/19. Does this effect my MythTV v29.1 installation in any way?

Database Optimize/Backup Order

I optimize (optimize_mythdb) and backup (mythconverg_backup) my Mythtv database nightly. The question is, which should I do first? Does optimizing potentially corrupt the database (implying backup should be first)? Thanks.

Remote Recommendations

I've been using Streamzap remote via LIRC since MythTV 0.18 (now at v29) and have been very happy with it. However, after 11 years some buttons are not as responsive as they should be. It looks like Streamzap is no longer being manufactured, and although some units can be found on eBay I'm thinking ...

Re: Update Database With find_orphans Output

Sorry for the confusion, I did not mean to imply that orphaned recordings were created from the daily backup process, but from database corruption during system failures. Depending on system stability (hardware, software, utility power, etc) system failures may be weekly, monthly, or annually. Becau...

Re: v30 VDPAU With MPEG2?

Thanks for the link. From the link it appears that MPEG-2 (a.k.a. H.222/H.262) and H.265/HEVC are different so I assume that v30 will continue to support MPEG-2 with VDPAU.

v30 VDPAU With MPEG2?

I see in the v30 Release Notes that it is dropping VDPAU support with H.265/HEVC. Playback Data during playback shows my Codec/Dec is MPEG-2 vdpau. Is MPEG-2 the same as H.265/HEVC? I am using an NVidia card. Am I going to lose VDPAU playback when I go to v30 (someday)? I find VDPAU provides a much ...

Update Database With find_orphans Output

I run nightly backups so when my database fails I can restore it from a backup copy. The problem is this leaves me with orphaned recordings with no database entry. I resort to moving those recording files to the videos group and watching them from there but that takes some effort. Is there an automa...

Best Playback Profile for High Powered System

I've read a bunch of information about playback profile but haven't found a clear recommendation for 1080i playback. I've got a reasonably high powered system (quad core i5 7500 processor and GTX 1050 video card). The default playback profiles High Quality, OpenGL High Quality, and VDPAU High Qualit...

Re: Video Playback At Double Speed, VLC Corrects the Problem

Thank you for your suggestion. I reviewed mythfrontend.log (without --verbose audio) and found a flood of messages: AudioOutputBase audio/audiooutputpulse.cpp:282 (WriteAudio) PulseAudio: WriteAudio, short write, 0 of 6174 AudioOutputBase audio/audiooutputpulse.cpp:279 (WriteAudio) PulseAudio: Write...

Video Playback At Double Speed, VLC Corrects the Problem [SOLVED]

I'm setting up MythTV 0.28-2 on Ubuntu 16.04.3 with kernel 4.13.0-26 and NVIDIA 384.111. I setup the backend (combined frontend/backend) far enough to play a video (no tuners, no program guide) and the frontend plays a video fine. However, after reboot, the frontend plays the same video in fast forw...
